  • I’m having the same issue. Created a site and am ready to launch it but the red “Staging Environment” button takes me to a page that says “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”

Contacted Bluehost via chat and they didn’t seem to know how to resolve the issue.

Is it possible to transfer the files to the main directory without breaking the site? In the meantime, I’m going to try redirecting the url.

Sadly, I don’t recall. I set it up a couple months ago. It was a beta feature either through WordPress or Bluehost. It doesn’t look like I installed a staging plugin for WordPress because one isn’t listed.

Bluehosts’ support chat didn’t seem to know what was going on either. Seemed to think it was a browser cache issue (which made no sense to me). Checked it anyway, chrome and safari yielded the same denied access page.

The way I understand it is there are two installations of WordPress. One in the main directory and one in a subfolder “/staging/6486/” where the red “Staging Environment” tab appears only in the latter.

I want to dissolve the “/staging/6486/” to make the site live. But I think that would break a lot of the links of posts. There are only two pages so that’s not a problem to relink (if I move things manually).

    Thank you again! Much appreciated.
