… Besides, the icon box links WORKED in my commercial theme before the recent version changes of WordPress. I have not changed themes. This indicates that this is apparently NOT a theme problem, but a problem with the WordPress version.

Unfortunately, no. I originally raised this issue more than 6 weeks ago, and have yet to hear from anyone at WordPress. Apparently, their support is not up to the challenge of responding to a simple request in a timely manner.

Other posts on similar topics suggested changing browsers from IE. While I have always avoided IE, I had been using only Chrome, and had not tried Firefox. I downloaded and installed Firefox, and tried the Icon Box editing in that browser. That setup also failed to save the link when the Set Link button was clicked.

Why has this simple function, which worked fine in previous versions of WordPress, failed to function in this version? Is this a WordPress version problem? Anyone?

I found other support discussions dealing with non-functioning links that suggested that the problem might have to do with a plug-in, and that deactivating plug-ins might solve the problem. I tried deactivating all of the plug-ins I could safely deactivate, but it did not solve the problem. I still get “undefined” in the Icon Box editing popup after I hit the Set Link button in the link editor.
