Hello.
This issue is marked as resolved, but what is the solution ?
I still have this problem on several websites.Hello,
I have the same issue on several websites. If “Incorrect query strings” option is activated, most of the widgets in the widgets administration section show Forbidden/403.
This only happens if the new block-based widgets editor is activated (introduced in WordPress 5.8).
Native legacy widgets like Categories, Menu, … are almost all showing the error message and errors are printed if I try to save. The current solutions are to
- Disable XSS protection
- Disable the new widgets editor
@mbrsolution Could you have a look a this again please ? Maybe the widgets editor wasn’t activated ?

Edit :
I just found out the issue is already documented and active here : https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/bad-query-strings-breaks-widgets-2/Forum: Plugins

I’ve been refreshing the page for about a billion times but today the link is redirecting to the pointer on the map.
