Thanks for your concern though if you look at documentation of wp_get_attachment_image_src you see that $size could be a string or array.

Hello,

Will I be able to reference the WP Geopost data or will I have to add each post location to the WP Google Maps plugin? – You can use wpgmp_markers filter to dynamically add markers on the maps.

I wish to create maps to appear on various post types via a template (not using short code in the wp admin editor), is this possible? – Possible, you can use do_shortcode function for this.

Can I also dynamically populate maps with a wp_query on post type or category name? – Yes, with help of wpgmp_markers you can achieve that.
