At this point of about a month since my last comment, we’re seeing significantly less customer orders sitting at “Pending payment”, and no direct complaints of a missing Turnstile checkbox on the checkout page. It looks like your changes in 1.37.0 may have addressed the issue! Thank you again for your work.
Hi again Elliot,
Thanks for your responses earlier, and apologies for my being difficult. I want to add that I also have a GitHub issue open here on the matter.
If the Turnstile challenge itself is occasionally blocking legitimate people, unfortunately this isn’t really something that can be handled on the plugins end.
I should clarify that this doesn’t appear to be a Cloudflare-specific issue – from the various photos and videos users have sent us, it appears that the Turnstile component is not loading at all for them. This results in a missing verification-type error in the debug log, and rejection of their request with the aforementioned error. I can try to share a picture or video with you if it’d be helpful. This leads to my frustration with what a difficult problem this has been to solve, since I’m having such a hard time identifying commanalities with the infrequent users who experience this issue, and being able to reproduce it myself for further troubleshooting. I’m starting to wonder if there may be a pattern in certain VPN or certain browsers (Brave or DuckDuckGo?) that’s preventing the clientside script from loading for them. Wondering now if any of the scripts show in a search of AdBlocking blocklists.
Besides that, I was testing the recent minor branch you had published (forget the exact number at the moment), and both the .0 release and .1 patch had caused the Turnstile to stop loading for me as well (but only in the Checkout.) I’m very grateful to have your engagement now, so I’d be happy to do some more testing and see if I can provide some valuable feedback.
Thanks so much for getting back to me. The moderator(s) have been quite clear that I am, under no circumstances, allowed to discuss support-related subjects in reviews on this site. They did mention to me (citing server logs, no less) that people typically find a user’s support requests by navigating to their profile first, so I’m afraid I can only ask that you do that for us to proceed further. I appreciate your troubleshooting items nonetheless.
FWIW, we’re also seeing intermittent issues where customers checking out are not presented the CAPTCHA and can’t continue. I’ve been unable to connect the cases with any common thread at this point. e: Debug log shows multiple
missing-input-responses for the user, while occasionalsuccessresults too.- This reply was modified 5 months, 3 weeks ago by funcdesign.
Any chance the issue you’re having might be related to mine? I’m unable to submit the form while logged in, and when Logged In Users are whitelisted.
Hello Ashikur,
Thank you for your response, and for pointing out the Abandoned Cart feature – that may just be the solution I’m looking for. I was having another issue with how carts are tracked in FluentCRM so that may be another issue I need to investigate. But either way, I appreciate your response.
Ibrahim,
Thank you so much for the thorough and thoughtful response. Since writing my review, I’ve run into an additional issue that I’m hoping can be resolved as it’s a blocker for us adding to our mailing list contacts. I very much appreciate you forwarding these concerns on to the development team – it’s unfortunate that the support team I was speaking to didn’t have the same response.
This is a fairly big issue for us as well. WooCommerce has had the Blocks-based checkout as default for some time now, and allowing the customer to subscribe during checkout is important for building our mailing list. Hoping for a resolution soon.

In reply to: [hCaptcha for WP] Believe users are having issues on WC CheckoutI’m sorry for the delay – I’ve lost contact with the customer so I’m unable to gather any further information. To be clear, I’m the admin who’s managing the store, and the user I’m interacting with is a customer who was having the issues checking out. We had the default value of -100 to take advantage of the feature you had added, and at this point I decided to leave it as is since it seems like this may have been a one-off issue. I apologize for the false alarm and appreciate you engaging me on this. If you still want to see the site, please let me know and I’ll PM you the address.

In reply to: [hCaptcha for WP] Believe users are having issues on WC CheckoutThanks for getting back to me on that. The customer is confirming now that this wasn’t the behavior they noticed when they tried it before – they had to fill out payment information on the page before submitting so there was lots of input, although they’re having trouble reproducing the exact same issue now. We’re both scratching our heads about what happened before and wondering if it’s a more widespread issue. They’re going to try again later to reproduce. With this information though, do you have any ideas what may have happened?

In reply to: [hCaptcha for WP] Believe users are having issues on WC CheckoutAdding additional information:
The user is reporting that when the Checkout page is loaded, the CAPTCHA element loads, but the checkbox does not appear (see below) until they move their cursor anywhere on the page. This is in Chrome on MacOS.

Thanks for the response and for giving me hope we’ll see this at some point! If it’s any help, hCaptcha has this implemented so you may be able to find some similarities that way.

Sent, thank you for the recommendation!
Hi Peter,
The most important feature for me is being able to CAPTCHA guest orders because that’s what bots will use for carding attacks. I’ve found that limiting account creation to a successful purchase has worked well too since a transaction is required. I didn’t realize that the CAPTCHA didn’t apply to the checkout page at all! Is there any word on when we might be able to apply CAPTCHAs to the checkout page?
Thanks for the info and for getting back to me.
Thank you, I hope this is something they’ll consider doing.
