I just posted here to give feedback, my entire feedback is:
Seeing makers of a software/service/product/etc being rude to people, puts me off wanting to give them my trade, because I don’t know if they might treat me like that
Regadless of the reviewers comments, attitude etc, the service providers should always be polite and respectful, rather than rude and/or defencive etc.
I was pretty keen on EE, seeing it’s staff be rude to someone (regardless of justification) has put me off, which is a great shame as EE was the most-hopeful as of yet, I received the login details for my free trial to test the full features (with intent to buy the full package upon confirmation that it fits the business needs), but will sadly no avoid it for the above reasons, not, because of this persons arrogant and stupid review, which, had no impact on my decision process.
Jan – You misunderstanding my comment. you are right 100%, users of open-source projects are definitely in no way entitled to customer service.
My entire point, is that as a person representing this ‘product’ it is your (the makers of EE) job to rise above people being rude/toxic, it is highly unprofessional to respond to inappropriate remarks by being rude and sarcastic.
(I say this, coming from 10 years of customer service experience for online-services way bigger than wordpress itself)
Perhaps, but as an employee/support person, it’s your job to rise above that sort of thing.
Hi Seth,
I just wanted to let you know that I was browsing to find an event management tool, and was getting pretty encouraged by everything I was seeing with EE, I came to check feedback and reviews on wordpress for the free version…
This customers review did not dissuade me from your plugin, it’s the sort of comment that someone who just got frustrated and gave up posted.
However, your extremely sarcastic and rude response has immediately put me off buying your software, I refuse to give my money to people hwo talk like this.
So, in summary, this customers 1star review – no effect, our rude reply – lost potential customer.
