found the solution. Its not the theme or any other plugin installed. its not a wordpress update glitch as well. if anyone has this plugin, capability manager enhance and suddenly user roles not working, just restore to wordpress default.
i saw that, and edited it the way as indicated.
add_shortcode(‘private’, ‘ubn_private_content’)
to
add_shortcode(‘test’, ‘ubn_private_content’)
the result was, a plugin deactivated.
same problem, but i cant find the code in this thread
private content only viewable to admin after updating to wp 4.3.1
