I am having a theme conflict. That may be the same for you as well.
I am getting the same error message with the same results.
It was conflicting with another plugin I was using [Event Espresso]. This is the response from the EE plugin developers, “I used live http headers to get the POST request that was being sent by the ajax on the page and used the poster firefox plugin to send the same POST request so I could see the return value. It was getting a php error about invalid argument to a foreach loop in the White Label CMS plugin. I deactivated it and everything started working.”
I reactivated the plugin, but once I made any changes to the default settings, I started having issues again. So, I deactivated it.

I haven’t disabled any plugins as of yet.
