We acknowledge your preference for fewer ads in the free plugin. Yoast SEO exhibits a limited set of ads/notifications in specific backend areas. We made sure that these particular ads and notifications are placed in areas that should not hinder your normal use of the plugin.
If you want to disable the ads in the Yoast SEO plugin, you can either modify the plugin code (either by editing the plugin files yourself or using a third-party plugin) or upgrade to Yoast SEO Premium.Hi @peq42

We are sorry to hear that you were having performance issues with our plugin. We would like to clarify that Yoast SEO does not directly cause a site to be slow. It can occur for various reasons, such as a conflict with other plugins or themes. Site speed depends on a lot of factors. Kindly check the following article How to speed up your site where we have added tips for increasing site speed.
To investigate the issue, you may check the following:
- Please make sure the website is meeting the necessary plugin requirements and the rest of your plugins and themes are up-to-date
- Are you using visual page builders or editors that replace the default WordPress editor?
- Does it resolve the issue if you go to WordPress > Yoast SEO > Settings > General > Site features and disable the Insights feature?
- Could you check if you’ve already completed the SEO Data Optimization process under Yoast SEO > Tools?
- If you go to Yoast SEO > Settings and disable the Text Link Counter, Insights, and Link Suggestions, does the issue still happen?

In version 22.7, we’ve included the Date and Separator in the meta description field UI to help users understand that Google and other search engines might display the date in the meta description within search results. Please note that the date and separator snippets won’t appear in the meta description tag within the page’s source code. We understand your preference not to have them. This feature will be removed in the next release (Yoast SEO v 22.8), so once it’s available, be sure to update your plugin.Thank you for the feedback, @searchhook ! We appreciate it! 🙂

- Go to Yoast SEO > Settings, disable the Text Link Counter, Insights, and Link Suggestions, and check if the issue still happens.
