What we see is that the main web page on our site render extremely slowly (at least a minute) because they wait for the googleapis font request to time out. We have other systems that ran into a similar problem in the past with Java because it wanted to verify the code certificates but could not access Google pages to do so.
We abandoned the plugin and are looking at other solutions. Thanks!
Thanks for the update. We have an in-house developed tool but we were hoping to find something that would take its place and not have to go into the database to change all the URLs.
