Thanks Three Sons, I am making progress using built-in WooCommerce session variables. I’m not there yet, but will post everything back here when it’s working, then everyone can see how.

Thank you, Phil, for directing me to WooCommerce Developer Slack. I am making good progress, and I think it will be as straightforward as I thought, if one knows the WooCommerce functions.

I’ll post final conclusion once I get everything working…

    Thanks again!

Thank you for your response. Let me clarify what I would like to know:

    1) Can someone point me to the function in WooCommerce that is executed when adding an item to the cart?
    2) I want to extract “attribute_style-color” to set in a global cookie that persists in the browser for a period of time.
    3) When a visitor displays a page using that browser with the Cookie set, I want to grab the cookie VALUE which is “attribute_style-color=COLOR” and pass it to the drop-down as <option value=”COLOR” selected>COLOR</option>

I know all these can be accomplished easily on their own, but need to know where the function in WooCommerce is to add the code, grab the COLOR in the Cookie, and then assign it to the attribute drop-down? If I add /?attribute_style-color=COLOR to my URL it will already do this.

    Hope that was clear… Lisa

Thank you 3 Sons, you hit the right idea adding the attribute to the URL. Now, I just need to know how to add this to a global cookie, so it automatically sets the attribute_style-color=[STORED COLOR ADDED TO CART].

I guess this thread is closed so may not find out here. Wow, only a week went by and the thread is closed. Yikes! <smile>

Hmmm, not sure I understand the “archives” part of your explanation. I am using categories based on the cabinets (base, vanity, etc.) and door style (framed vs. frameless), however to do it by color, it seems I would have to duplicate the cabinets in each color instead of having all colors as an attribute for each cabinet.

Anyway, thank you, but I feel like to have a cookie “set” the OPTION VALUE in each dropdown as a customer navigate the site is the direction I’d like to go.

Appreciate the alternatives, though, and maybe you can explain the “archives” in a little more depth, or point me to documentation? If you want? No worries, if not.

    Thanks again!

Seems I’ve not had any more complaints. Mysterious… but not an issue at the moment.

    Thanks, Amanda,

So, I changed the permalinks to something entirely different: “shop” instead of “product,” saved twice, and could then see the individual product pages. Great!

Still having a problem with virtual products that are PDF files to download. The link to the file should “force” a download, but still gives a 404 error page.

    Any ideas for that?

    Addendum:

Even my single product pages on the website are returning a 404. Is this an update bug? I recently updated both Worpdress and WooCommerce (although I don’t want to sidetrack).

    FYI

You can see the error by clicking on a product on my website: https://JustMontessori.com
