In reply to: [WebberZone Top 10 — Popular Posts] Top 10 list not updatingIt finally caught up, but usually it starts showing immediately. The changes would show while in admin, but not when logged out. I changed it from 3 days to 2days, but that had no effect. Clearing the cache usually works, but not on the live site. I’m not sure how that happened, but it’s working now. Maybe it’s enforcing a strict 2 day update, I can’t really say.

Hey Mike,
I created a staging site with the new theme and the same thing happened. It doesn’t affect any other aspect of my website. The URL for the episode is still there in PowerPress but the category and artwork are still missing from every episode. It’s definitely the plugin.
You could be right about the theme. I use Customizr Pro, which is no longer supported by WordPress. I’m in the process of switching to the Astra Pro theme. I also use the Soonar player but use PowerPress to generate my feeds (don’t ask, it’s complicated), but it works for my needs.
I’m happy to help with the development of your awesome plugin but only if it’s worth your time since I no longer am using your hosting service (sorry). Let me know and if you want, I’ll schedule a time with you next week. Otherwise, no harm no foul. I just wanted to bring it to your attention.
Actually, Category podcasting has always been enabled as has “strict categories” (see attachment).
Honestly, I’m not sure why it does this. I’ve tried staging on three separate services, and they all work perfectly fine, but for whatever reason, the category from the dropdown list and the artwork for each episode is stripped out. It’s blank.
I learned the hard way when I pushed the staging site live last year. I’m not sure how that category from the dropdown list interacts with the actual category assigned in WordPress, but I assume the WordPress category dictates what shows up for that category in PowerPress (though I could be wrong).
Since each category is listed as its own show on streaming platforms, I don’t know if removing the episode from the dropdown list has any effect or not. If it does, it’s important. If it doesn’t, eh. I just want to ensure that only that episode shows up under that category as well as the main feed itself.
As for the artwork, some streaming services, like Amazon, actually pull the artwork, which is why I want it there. Others, like Apple, do not. It just depends. So that, to me, is important.
While I’d prefer to use a staging site, it’s not a do-or-die because I just put up a roadblock to my website instead of creating a staging site when I’m creating an overhaul, but for others, that might be important because they can’t afford to lose traffic. I’d also check to see if it does it with Custom Podcast Channels, Taxonomy Podcasting, and Post Type Podcasting. I’ll bet it does.

Sure, I’ll try it out and let you know.
In the Gutenburg builder for PowerPress, the dropdown field for categories per episode and the individual artwork are removed when you create a staging site. Here’s what mine looks like before staging. After creating a staging site, these fields are empty.

He’s engaged but I was trying to find a solution myself rather than have someone dig into my admin, which he offered. I’m also using Gemini to help solve the problem and this has been ongoing for a couple of days. I’ve tried several different solutions I found on the web about the same issue (code for my functions.php file in my child theme) but none have worked.
I’ll likely let the developer take a look because he wants to view my setup, which is likely different than most but works for me with the exception of this one issue.
Thanks for taking the time to help out. You didn’t have to and I wasn’t certain it was an issue with PowerPress feed generation. Though, Gemini is asking me to find filters or hooks in your documentation regarding the generation of your feeds. Honestly, I’ll probably let go and have the developer take a look.
Thanks again.
I don’t have to tell you that WordPress generates the feed that ends with /feed/ and PowerPress generates the feed that ends with /feed/podcast/. Both are identical and based on whatever information I add to the feed in PowerPress. Why this one feed was redirecting, I can’t say because there were no redirects for feeds that I could find — especially not back to the home page.
I went ahead and added the redirect as you suggested but that didn’t resolve the issue, nor did I expect it to. I’m just trying to hide the shortcode at the top of my post in the feed so it doesn’t show up as the description in streaming services.
I don’t use the description field for each episode because that was never a thing for many years and my podcast is 17 years old. It always pulled from the blog post, which is why I’m now having issues with the shortcode appearing as part of the description since I moved the player to the top of the post.
That’s because the feed is https://partyfavorz.com/category/club-fusion/feed/podcast/
I replied several days ago and it’s missing. Anyway, here’s the link to one of my podcasts in Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/club-fusion-by-party-favorz/id1676656976?mt=2&ls=1
I have a code to hide the shortcode in the RSS feed but cannot find the shortcode_function that triggers the play button to add it to my functions.php file in my child theme. I’m going back and forth with the developer now about what it is but he seems to be questioning if I’m adding the shortcode into the description when I just rely on the blog post to be pulled like it always has. With over 1,000 episodes, there’s not enough time in my day to summarize all of them when I’m trying to maintain a website, podcast, and create content.

In reply to: Image Title Attribute Missing from featuring imagesInteresting, it appears to me this is something built into WordPress not my theme. I know you offer the option in your newer block editor.
Regardless, I don’t think the people behind CustomizrPro are the same developers. They say they’re still supporting the theme but it hasn’t had an update in over a year. I’ll be switching themes in the new year and will see if that changes anything. I doubt it but okay.
Thanks.
