I found another very promissing looking plugin for setting restrictions. If this does it in a correct way we found not only the “guilty” one but saved worked on top.
I will give you feedback as soon i’m through with my tests.

It is a good thing, that movies are of a custom post type because then they are “hidden” in the standard lists in the admin area.But a small cosmetic thing:
When creating a new “normal” post you can refer to another post via an embedded link. Here you can choose from a list of all your pages, posts….uh….and thousands of movies 😉
Idea: hook into this dialog with a checkbox: Show MoviesJust my 5 cents

It works fine on normal posts.
I also informed the author of the other plugin because i’m not sure from “where” this comes.

After a while all (!) my movies lost again their access restrictions. It must be an incompatibility between UAM and your plugin.
I assume your pligin is creating every movie as a single article (although i can’t see them in the main article list.
If they are not like normal articles but created dynamically during runtime then this would be the explanation. How should an object store something if the object in fact does not exists?Forum: Plugins

It is not yours but the plugin User-Access-Maanager.
In the past i used it only and everytime on single articles and pages and everything worked fine.Just since i imported my several hundred movies i also tried to change the permission in a mass update.
The UAM implements a new area “Access Control” where you can choose the desired access group.
Additionally when in mass-update-mode you can choose between add – remove – overwrite access groups.
And here is the bug. I’ve choosen overwrite all the time (to be on the secure side) but this did not work well. Adding is working…I already informed the author of UAM.
However, as UAM is nevertheless a cute little tool, maybe you want to ahve a closer look as well in the combination of UAM and your plugin.

In reply to: [WPMovieLibrary] Problem with User RestrictionAs mentioned: i’m using UAM (from here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/user-access-manager/) with which i can set the access on every single post or page or … to a defined usergroup (not connected to a role!).
After adding some more movies yesterday i found the funny fact, that all movies to an old collection just forget the restriction whereas the movies i added yesterday to another collection kept the restriction i set.
It’s really weird…..

After adding the page for artists my WP-page informed me anyway to renew my permlinks, what i did.
This message disappeared then.
But the problem still exists….My permalink setting is set to the second last option (/wordpress/example_pstt/)
Here are some example links (without protocoll and host)
The main Movie grid: /wordpress/privates/filmdatenbank/ – works
A single Movie: /wordpress/movies/2001-odyssee-im-weltraum/ – works
A specific genre selected: /wordpress/genre/action/ – works
The main actor page: /wordpress/privates/filmdatenbank/schauspieler/ – works
Clicking on a name (what is only possible on the first page of the actors, see below) brings: /wordpress/actor/abigail-hargrove/ – works
Searching for an actor – worksSo far so good. But:
Clicking on “D” in the header: /wordpress/privates/filmdatenbank/schauspieler/grid/D/50/title/ASC – bamm
Clicking on “Next” at the bottom: /wordpress/privates/filmdatenbank/schauspieler/grid/50/title/ASC/page/2 – bammAh, i see. Thank you.

A whole group was gone which causes that almost all user weren’t able to logon.
And it took me a long time until i found out that the group was gone.
Fixing was easy: re-adding group, adding the specific users into the group and everything was fine as all pages and posts still had the group in itself.Explanation? None.
