In reply to: [evolve] Updating evolve for clientYeah,
I didn’t build this site; I inherited it for updates. The original site designer is no longer working with the law firm. Here is the message go daddy sent me concerning the white screen of death. I am currently scrambling to put a different theme up just in the interim.Per Go Daddy:
Hi Valued Customer,
This is Dusan from the GoDaddy WPPS Team. I will be working on your ticket.
Per your recent request we have checked your WP website lawpickard.com and detected the reason of your white screen of death – It is caused by your theme. I did a backup of your website, and switched the theme to Twenty Fourteen (found among your installed themes).
The white screen of death dissapeared after that action. You can that your website is live again – If you still see white screen, please delete the cache from your browser.
You will have to find another solution for the theme on your website or to contact manufacturer to see if they may have some solution or reason why is this happening on your website.

In reply to: [evolve] Updating evolve for clientWell, I got the white screen of death with the newest evolve theme (3.8.2). Godaddy said it doesn’t support the newest version, so I am scrambling to put up a different theme so my customer doesn’t miss any users. I am so disappointed.

In reply to: [evolve] Updating evolve for clientHi Donna,
I went ahead and saved the settings and upgraded from 2.6.4 to 3.8.2. I also uploaded my saved settings afterward and it still looks terrible. I took screenshots but do not see an attachment button on this forum. Do you know how I can share them? In the meantime, I am restoring the site backup again. Any advice would be helpful.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [evolve] home page mess after updatesHello,
I recently was commissioned by a client to update their website (lawpickard.com). It is a law office that hadn’t been updated their site since 2014. They utilize the evolve theme and I updated it from v.2.6.4 to 3.8.1. It looked terrible; it was impossible to navigate and had ads everywhere. The nav bar duplicated itself (possibly displaying the mobile and desktop versions simultaneously), the header was all wonky, and ads were overlaying the content. I wondering if this could be related to the issues described above concerning 3.8.1. I reinstalled the backup and reverted back to 2.6.4, and my client generally wants everything to look the same on their site with some content updates and adjustments to their mobile version. I know keeping the latest version updated is usually best practice, and I am wondering if there is a way to do this without the site looking terrible and unusable after the update. Thanks!
