UPDATE: I tried a WordPress fix I saw for the “missed schedule” posts. While today’s digest was not a missed schedule post, it still posted 5 hours late. Instead of 11:45pm, it posted at 4:45am. Any ideas? Am I the only one experiencing this?

I auto upgraded to the 1.6, and it’s still messing with my admin activities. For example, I just deactivated the plugin, and instead of bringing me back to the plugin page, it gave me a page with in the upper lefthand corner. I was also unable to preview draft posts while the plugin was activated. Any kind of confirm or submit action would bring me to either a blank page or a page with in the upper lefthand corner. Deactivating the plugin corrects those problems.

    I’m running WordPress v. 2.7

BTW — if I’m putting this in the wrong place or should be starting a new topic for my issue since it’s slightly different from the one that initiated this topic, please let me know and I’ll gladly do so.

I haven’t had any error messages, but after the last update, WordPress started acting funny. When I submitted edited posts or tried to activate or deactivate plugins I’d either get a blank page or a page with just a couple of punctuation marks in the upper lefthand corner.

This occurred after updating Acronyms, Maintenance Mode and Bad Behavior on the same day. Bad Behavior isn’t activated, so I didn’t do anything with that. After deactivating Acronyms, the problems stopped.

Let me know if you need more details — I’m willing to help however I can. I love this plugin.

I still can’t change the default avatar through wp-admin (still getting a 404 error), but I did manage to change it by going directly to the database.

Seems to be working now. Not sure what happened. Thanks anyway.

Thanks! I’ll give that a shot.

Not sure what you’re asking … my problem turned out to be that I was using the wrong API key. When I entered the same key I’d used for Akismet, the problem was solved.

WOO HOO! That did it. You’re my hero, moshu. Thanks so much.

htaccess was moved. I just checked, permissions were set 0644. I changed them to 0777 (do I need to go that far, or could it be less?). I just opened the file, and all that’s in there is mod security.

(Thanks so much for going over this with me!)

I did. I changed it to the default setting, saved it, then changed to to my custom setting and saved it. Still broken. I also tried adding the “category” and “tags” as suggested in the sticky post I linked in my OP, but that didn’t do anything. I just talk to my webhost, and they’re going to try reinstating my mod-rewrite rules and see if that does the trick.

On a whim, I checked my Akismet configuration and discovered I’d registered that with a different API key. I used that key for my WordPress.com stats plugin and voila! It was working again.

Not sure what I did, but it seems to be fixed.

Count me as another who would be interested in this theme. I just tried to look at it again, and it seems the file is now password protected.

    Thanks for the response, David.

I was definitely working with the correct theme. I only have three themes uploaded: the two that came with WP and the one I use. The file I was actually working with was leftcolumn.php, and in both the program I work in and WP’s Theme Editor, the file showed the code wasn’t there, but it still showed up when my blog was loaded.

I ended up changing the filename to leftcolumna.php and made the necessary alterations in my index.php, single.php, and archive.php, and suddenly everything looked right.

It blows my mind. I uploaded the identical file, just with a slight alteration in the name, and it made all the difference.

I am still curious about what the problem was.

    They look great!
