I think I did something similar by creating filters, making a landing page, and linking to the category page with the filter already turned on. I added the plugin to make variations their own product, and I think the user experience is likely better now, since really you’d only be purchasing one or the other, never (rarely) both.

That allows me to take a single product and put it into 2 subcategories, but what if I want a single product to have 2 variations, and each of those variations to be in their individual category?
