Hi @midnitemedia,
Please check if this is happening with the default Genesis theme too. If it does not, then the issue is caused by your child theme.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi @gendronspawn,
You can check if you’ve installed Yoast WooCommerce SEO by going to SEO → Premium in your WordPress dashboard. Please note that the forums on ww.wp.xz.cn are for the free plugins only.
For any questions you might have about the premium plugins, please send us an email at [email protected]
Hi @kevindp,
The only way to set Canonical HTTP Headers with Yoast SEO would be by editing your .htaccess file from SEO → Tools → File Editor. However, this implies that you know the syntax to the HTTP canonical header.
If you are not sure how to do it, then using the plugin you have mentioned might be a better solution.
Hi @thekaangezer,
That is the page/post’s slug. Does your post/page actually have a slug at this stage?
What is the current status of your post/page (pending/draft)? We ask so that we may try to replicate the issue on our side.
Hi @alexmalons,
Please note that a temporary workaround is to set the image which you want for the homepage as the default image in SEO → Social → Facebook → Default settings.
Hi @haendler55,
Thanks for following up. The reason why Google is displaying the image and ratings for those URLs is that they are using structured data for recipes.
You can check any URLs structured data using this tool. Unfortunately, you cannot implement structured data with Yoast SEO, you’d have to use a different plugin for this.
If you want to learn more about structured data, you can do so here.
@metallikat36 we too have noticed that Facebook has changed how the description is displayed (including the length), there are several changes on the preview generated when sharing links. Unfortunately, it is too soon to draw any conclusions or to share accurate guidelines, but we will update the plugin as soon as we have more information.
Hi @justnailedit,
Unfortunately, we couldn’t provide you with site-specific SEO advice. As a general guideline, with a forum, you will be having many pages, some of which might have very thin content. You may want to noindex these pages with thin content.
Sorry about the troubles, this is a known issue, we’ve already reported it to our development team. You can follow its progress here.
The issue is only happening on the homepage when using a static page. The only workaround at the moment is to set the default image (in SEO → Social → Facebook → Default settings) the same as the one which you’d want for the homepage.
Hi @jone83,
Unfortunately, we couldn’t know what exactly has changed when you switched SEO plugins. It may be caused by the SEO settings, or it could be completely unrelated to the SEO plugin. One thing we did notice is that you have the media attachment pages indexed, which is not usually recommended. You can find more about this and how to fix it here.
Hi @icepari,
Unfortunately, we cannot provide site-specific SEO advice, as this would require an in-depth research of your website to provide you with a proper solution.
The problem in your case does not seem to be that you are using tag pages, but that you have too many pages with thin content. The fact that they are tags does not really change anything in terms of SEO.
As a general guideline, when you have many pages with thin content, you can either delete them (and create the necessary redirects) or noindex them.
If these tags are indeed useful for your website’s visitors, then a better solution might be setting canonical links from the similar tags to the ones which you have optimized and want to rank.
Hi @worldless,
Please update first to Yoast SEO 7.6 and check if the issue persists. Alternatively, you can also download older versions of Yoast SEO here (all the way down on the bottom of the page, where it says Previous versions).
Hi @evasquez07,
You can prevent having duplicate meta description by adding the %%page%% variable to your meta description. This will add automatically to your subpages’ meta description “Page X out of Y”, where Y is the total number of subpages. You can learn more about this variable, as well as the other ones which you might use here.
Hi @bansaw,
If you do not want a specific page to be shown on Google (or any other search engines), you can noindex it by following this guide.
