This is a feature part of the WordPress core, not of Yoast SEO. You can noindex the whole website by going to Settings → Reading → Discourage search engines from indexing this site (make sure to uncheck that box when you finish with your staging website).
Hi Darin,
If the snippet preview shows correctly, but none of the tags generated by Yoast SEO can be found in the page’s source, then it’s likely that your custom post’s template does not include the
wp_head()hook. Is this the case? There are multiple ways to build a multilingual website, one of the most common which is to build a multisite network and have each language in its own subsite. To do this, you could use a plugin such as MultilingualPress.
You can learn more about multilingual SEO here.
Hi @alexanderkryger,
We’ve inspected your page’s source and can confirm that Yoast SEO is outputting the correct meta description:
<meta name="description" content="Hos Højholt Hudpleje er vores mål er at gøre din voksbehandling så effektiv og nænsom som overhovedet muligt."/>That being said, there are multiple reasons why Google may display the wrong meta description.
There is no way to say for sure what is the exact reason why Google is displaying a different meta description, it may simply ignore it if it does not consider it a good fit and replace it with a text snippet from the page. If this is the case, you may want to write a longer and better meta description.
You can refer to this guide on how to write good meta descriptions.
Hi @hmek687,
Please note that the forums are for issues related to Yoast SEO only. For any issue with Yoast SEO Premium (including MyYoast), it would be best to use the premium personal support.
To answer your question, that error usually happens when an account already exists for that email address, in which case it would be best to try to reset the password for your email address.
Additionally, you don’t have to create an account before purchasing any of our plugins. A MyYoast account is created automatically during the checkout for the email address used to place the order.
Should you experience any other issues with your account, please use premium support to contact us.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi Ben,
Both of the SEO scores have an impact on how well your website is performing in the search engines.
That being said, if you cannot improve both the readability and the analysis, it still useful to improve one of them.
Is the whole Yoast SEO meta box missing, or just the focus keywords field? If it’s just the focus keyword, please go to SEO → General → Features and make sure that SEO analysis is enabled.
Additionally, please go to Users → Your profile and make sure the boxes in this image are not checked. Does this fix your issue?
The analysis tab is not set to give any score unless you specify a focus keyword for that page. However, the Readability tab should be working even without a focus keyword.
Are you getting the same issue regarding readability on other pages too, or is just the homepage.
Additionally, does your homepage have any content in the WordPress editor area ( https://i.imgur.com/vTjEp4n.png )? We ask as if all the content is dynamically generated (or using a custom solution), it’s possible that Yoast SEO might not be able to detect any content on that page, in which case the readability score would not show anything. If you’re using any page builder plugin for the homepage, please let us know which one.
Hi John,
The default value for meta robots tag is index, follow. That field can be used if you want to set extra robots meta tag values. The wording in that field suggests that you did not set any extra values.
If you’d like to learn about what other robots meta tag values you can use and what they do, you can do so here.
Hi John,
Please note that Post formats are WordPress specific, they are not a feature part of Yoast SEO.
You can see the post format option when editing a post, on the right sidebar: https://i.imgur.com/7lfP8al.png
If you’d like to learn more about Post Formats, we’d recommend this guide.
Hi Tim,
Yoast SEO will never make any changes to your robots.txt file automatically (no matter if you’re updating the plugin or not). You can only edit the robots.txt file manually, as in this guide.
It is safe to update the plugin, it will not be changing your robots.txt file.
Facebook’s Sharing Debugger allows users to see exactly what their scraper sees for a given URL (scroll down untill you see See exactly what our scraper sees for your URL).
If you check that for your URL, you can notice that Facebook is not seeing the same HTML code as you would when viewing the source of your page (the one from Facebook is incomplete).
While Twitter does not have a similar function to see what their scraper sees, we believe it’s having the same issue as Facebook’s crawler.
In this manner, we’d recommend performing a conflict check, as it’s possible that your WordPress theme or a different plugin is causing these issue.
We’d reccommend starting with your WordPress theme, by temporarily switching to a default theme (such as Twenty Seventeen) and check again either with Facebook’s Sharing Debugger or Twitter’s Card Validator if the issue persists.
In order for us to replicate this issue, please install the Health Check plugin, then go to Dashboard → Health Check → Debug information and copy-paste the information here.
This will allow us to replicate your environment, and hopefully the issue too.
Hi @yayax,
We have inspected your website and found that there are still some media attachment pages indexed in Google (i.e. https://i.imgur.com/9I0TUTk.png)
However, if you check that link, you will notice that it does a 301 redirect to the media file itself, which is the expected behavior.
The media attachment pages will soon be removed from Google’s index too. Unfortunately, there’s no way to control exactly when that will happen, but it should be in less than one week.
