In reply to: [IP Location Block] Import settings from IP GeoBlock?Thank you for you assistance. Everything seems to be up and running again now.
Not being a web programmer (I’m a machinist) the things that you had mentioned were of course all Greek to me. ๐
Thanks again,

In reply to: [IP Location Block] Import settings from IP GeoBlock?Darko,
I tried the Migrate from IP Geo Block button but it doesn’t seem to do anything.
Also, any time I try to save settings I get an error.Sorry, your request cannot be accepted.
If I deactivate IP Location Block and enable IP GEO Block it behaves normally and I was able to export its settings.
I tried deactivating both and then re-activating IP Location block but it didn’t change the Save Settings problem.
Thanks,

In reply to: [IP Geo Block] Can’t Access my Own Site“Yup, Iโm very surprised this hasnโt been taken over, forked, and given it a new release of life. Quality plugin.”
I have no idea about how or if someone else’s code can be simply “taken over” and used by someone else for commercial purposes, but…
My first though was always what happened to this person who was always friendly, responsive and willing to answer questions about their plugin. Even for utterly ignorant users such as myself with our endless silly questions.
To suddenly cease all communications, stop supporting a large body of work (at least I imagine that it is) and to drop off with zero warning?
Since there is no mechanism for anyone to establish contact with the author of this work except through this forum, it remains a mystery.
I certainly hope that they are well, but suspect otherwise. ๐

In reply to: [IP Geo Block] How to remove pluginAs I recall there is a setting that determines whether deleting the plugin removes all data and setting.
It seems to allow for removing the plugin and then re-installing it and retaining any previous configuration.Forum: Reviews
In reply to: [IP Geo Block] NOT GOODI only had problems with the very last couple updates. Once I went back to a slightly different revision it worked fine again.
That it is no longer supported in any way is unfortunate.

In reply to: [Theme My Login] Show only Registration Link instead of all fields?Jeff,
Did those images show up properly for you?
Thanks,

In reply to: [Theme My Login] Show only Registration Link instead of all fields?Jeff,
Also, is there a way to have the TML widget only appear on certain pages rather than every page? Not a big deal just thought I’d ask since on one page it overlays some pictures slightly.
Thanks,

In reply to: [Theme My Login] Show only Registration Link instead of all fields? Thanks Jeff. Hopefully this works.
Jeff,
I’d been fooling with this for a few days and came up with this as a solution for the moment. I created a Registration and Login menu item and moved the TML widget out of the way.
This at least provides me with the ability to have that function available but not as cleanly as I’d hoped. The TML widget is down at the bottom of the screen otherwise it overrides the other menu in the Sidebar.
Prior to me trying to get a Registration link to show up it coexisted perfectly with that menu. Now, not so much. With me logged in it looks like this and the widget hidden at the bottom looks this way.
If I put it back the way it was before I monkeyed with it and now it is behaving differently that it did, but not the same as before I started in on it to try to get a Registration link along with the Login. the difference is that now it has these fields for login rather than just a Login link? It is back to the same as I can figure out but something has changed?
It’s as if there si some sort of “order of operations” that is critical that I don’t at all understand. But what I was originally trying to get was just what is in the previous picture with
Dashboard
Profile
Log OutExcept when Logged out it would be
Login
RegistrationAnd not have the Registration fields cover up the other menu:
SHOP
CART
CHECK OUT

In reply to: [IP Geo Block] Developer has stopped with IP Geo Block?Does somebody know if the developer has ended the project ?
Unfortunately I don’t think that there is any way to actually know this one way or the other. WordPress doesn’t seem to have any actual process that is used to “close the loop” on such things or any mechanism to contact the developer based on threads like these to find out and issue an “official” status. So it eventually just ends up that the users of the plugin give up on it. ;-(

In reply to: [IP Geo Block] Can’t verify that it works“…
I think the plugin is great and somewhat impressive, but itโs also in dire need of ongoing support.Whatโs THAT status?”
Unfortunately there seems to be no way to tell? WordPress seems to be completely without any information about the plugins that are created for their web sites. They don’t keep any sort of ‘official record’ of which plugins are properly maintained ans supported and which (like this one) appear to be abandoned.
The only evidence we seem to have is that the developer no longer responds to any form of communication. As far as I know there is no mechanism to provide feedback to WordPress and perhaps have them attempt to contact the developer. One would imagine that a plugin developer would be required to have some contact with WordPress at least for security purposes, but I really have no idea how any of this works behind the scenes.
My site remains essentially ‘broken’ in that I can’t do anything to the webs site with the plugin activated without the error message. I’m stuck with deactivating/activating the plugin to continue to leave it (apparently)n working.
No combination of deactivating plugins, remove/reinstall of IP GeoBlock changes anything.

In reply to: [IP Geo Block] permanent fcgid errors with this pluginWhile I haven’t deleted it I continue to deactivate it to do anything and then re-activate it on the presumption that it is still doing something and has somehow gotten to where it sees my access to the web site as an attack for some reason.
I’ve no idea how that happened.I think that the author has abandoned it as well. Unfortunate since it seemed to be a good asset to protect my web site.

In reply to: [IP Geo Block] 403 Forbidden when clicking links.I have a similar problem where the plugin reports a “Bad Request”.
As a work around, I end up deactivating the plugin, doing whatever I need to to the web site and then reactivating it on the presumption that it is still doing it’s job when active.
I can’t even check the settings (on any plugin) or view the IP Geo Block logs the way it is right now.
The developer has not responded to any support requests since late last year and I’m wondering if this plugin has been abandoned?
