Just to follow up, and for anyone else using Bluehost, and trying to configure the events confirmation to send from their own email address using SMTP:
Bluhost won’t accept SMTP connections from other applications, so the workaround is:
1 – set up an email account in your bluehost control panel with the same address as your email account that you want to use
2 – in the events plug in in email settings configure the SMTP host to be box***.bluehost.com (replace *** with your own box number given by lue host), use port 465, and add your email address and passwordWorks like a dream!
OK, seems to be that it is an issue with my host (bluehost) blocking smtp connections.
Solution seems to be something like this:

thanks, have tried using the gmail settings, but not working
