I had already tried that code but interestingly, whilst using the customize tool, the changes do not show up on the live preview. But I noticed by chance that when you load a live version of the page in a new browser tab, the changes do show up.

WOW… thanks for your quick response. I couldn’t see the 0.8.6 update, so I have manually installed it. PROBLEM SOLVED. Thank you. I had searched for hours and hours to find a way to display my latest posts on my static front page and your plugin works perfectly.
