In reply to: Site down after attempted core upgradeThank you very much for your reply. This is exactly what I did after it first failed. However, after your email I re-checked, and it seems Dreamweaver (my FTP program) skipped some files during the upload. I uploaded those skipped files and now the site is up again.
I also needed to update the theme which caused some issued, but all working now, many thanks.Thank you! I reset the thumbnail size and now it works fine. Really appreciate your help. Here is what the system generated on my source code view:
[ngg_images source=”galleries” container_ids=”1″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails” override_thumbnail_settings=”0″ thumbnail_width=”240″ thumbnail_height=”160″ thumbnail_crop=”1″ images_per_page=”20″ number_of_columns=”0″ ajax_pagination=”0″ show_all_in_lightbox=”0″ use_imagebrowser_effect=”0″ show_slideshow_link=”0″ slideshow_link_text=”[Show slideshow]” order_by=”sortorder” order_direction=”ASC” returns=”included” maximum_entity_count=”500″]
Update. While the page listed is not OK as regards displaying the gallery, the admin area now shows the gallery thumbnails fine. So that’s progress. I deleted and re-added the gallery but on the public page the images are still full sized.
Thanks for your reply Cais. I followed all of these steps but the problem persisted, even when all plugins were deactivated and even when I changed to twenty thirteen theme.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can try.
If it helps I may be able to provide you with a temporary user login.
Cheers
MariaOkay I searched some further and found a recommendation to manually update WordPress which I have just done and it seems to have fixed the problem.
Hi Rajesh thanks for your reply.
I did rename the folder via FTP however this problem remains the same. Do you have any other ideas?
ThanksUPDATE. I found that the images I put in using the normal WP post edit interface were not present in the ngg_featured folder. So I am in the process of manually FTP’ing them into the ngg_featured folder. This appears to be a workaround that is actually doing the job. A bit klunky tho’. π
Hi Cais, thanks so much for your quick reply. No I am very sorry I don’t recall which version of NextGEN I was using. But the date of the last published post which works is January 2017. My theme is Catch Adaptive Pro and I am using a child version. I checked and there is a small update (2.4.1 up from 2.4) which I have just applied. I refreshed the pages and the featured image is still not showing. I guess the next step would be for me to approach the Catch team, would that be right? Thank you
Okay never mind I found it. Changed slideshow_link_text=β[Show slideshow]β to slideshow_link_text=βShow slideshowβ seems to fix it. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks very much Cais for your reply.
However I can’t find the show_slideshow_text parameter. This is what I have for one of the problem galleries:[ngg_images source=”galleries” container_ids=”88″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails” override_thumbnail_settings=”0″ thumbnail_width=”120″ thumbnail_height=”90″ thumbnail_crop=”1″ images_per_page=”20″ number_of_columns=”0″ ajax_pagination=”0″ show_all_in_lightbox=”0″ use_imagebrowser_effect=”0″ show_slideshow_link=”0″ slideshow_link_text=”[Show slideshow]” template=”default” order_by=”sortorder” order_direction=”ASC” returns=”included” maximum_entity_count=”500″]
I think I found the answer to my own question. Delete the current featured image, SAVE the post (necessary step), and then the NextGen featured image option appears. π
Thanks Photocrati. I looked further but I do not see this option on existing posts. I noticed it is available on new posts. What do you suggest for existing posts … Deleting and recreating them??

In reply to: Unable to login. Warning messages.Great idea, thank you, I hadn’t thought of that. Yes I do know about FTP and can do that.
I will try that some time today or tomorrow and then see if the problem recurs if I re-activate the new theme. Since this is a paid theme I do want it to work correctly.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Updates Settings] Just installed: Got errorHi Yslo
I disabled and uninstalled the plugin and deleted the plugin and settings. Then I reinstalled it. But it still gives the error message. I am not really worried as it seems to work OK anyway.
Thanks

Not sure what you mean about configuration … Running latest WordPress 4.2.4 and all other plugins on site up to date. It’s a first installation, not an upgrade. And I am not using debug mode … Not even sure what debug mode is.
I notice that the settings changes I made HAVE stuck in spite of the error message.
I tried again to untick some of the boxes, same result … Settings have changed but the error message appears again. I am supposing the plugin still works in spite of the error message (hopefully!)
