After typing worked on the test site, I tried a different browser and it worked – thank you for your quick, reassuring and effective help.

I have disabled the blocker for the site and get the same problem. So I tried using Edge and it worked.

Quick update for anyone with the same problem.
The problem was no longer occuring, glad I checked that before changing theme and turning off all my plugins!
But that left me with lots of images in my File Manager causing problems with my sitemap.
To remove them I found a plug in (Media Cleaner). The pro version checks for mismatches between the media library and the file manager and deletes the extra images in the file manager.

Hi Michelle
Let me recap my question. I changed to Jetpack sitemaps very recently and the first time I ran the ahrefs check a bunch of images that I deleted from my media library showed up on the ahrefs report ‘3XX redirect in sitemap’. I asked what might cause this and how I can correct the error. You can see the images urls in this screen shot.

To also confirm, I have observed that deleting images from my media library doesn’t delete the images on the server.
