Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Issue after 4.4 upgradeAccess your site through FTP, and go to the folder:
html / wp-content / plugins / and rename the folder “custom-taxonomy-sort” to “temp_custom-taxonomy-sort”. When you re-load your admin console or website, you should now be able to see it without the error.
Well, I ignored the previous error messages and disabled Jetpack through FTP. Now I’m logged in to the console! Thank you, csonnek, for your help. Now I’ll see what other trouble I can get into…
Although the errors on our website all say Jetpack, on our web server the only error that refers to wp-admin is this:
[Fri May 13 06:10:22 2016] [error] [client 24.240.23.18] ModSecurity: Warning. Match of “rx ^POST$” against “REQUEST_METHOD” required. [file “/etc/apache2/mod_security/custom/wpbrute.conf”] [line “14”] [hostname “gesw.com”] [uri “/gs-bin/php-stable/wp-login.php”] [unique_id “VzXSPEgv5BgAAEwO@kEAAAA3”]
I’ll see if I can figure out what that means, but not being a programmer, or even a real IT guy, I don’t know how far I’ll get. Any further help would be most welcome!
Hi, csonnek
Thank you very much for stepping in. I just went to my Media Temple web host account and discovered that the settings for the server error logs were set to “disabled”, so I am not able to check anything. I changed the setting to “enabled” but that will not help me out this time.
Is there any other way to find out what plugins I can delete by FTP in order to be able to access my WP admin console? I appreciate any help you can provide.
It may be germane to tell you that back in March I updated WP and something in the update “broke” our site, so I replaced everything with my previous backup from December of 2015. Everything looked good then up until a few days ago when I wanted to add some media to my site and have not been able to log in.
Thanks again,
Miguel
