In reply to: Setting up the "blog" part of my WP static pages siteI can code just a little. I’ve found a Child Theme guide and I’ll give this a go myself. A good opportunity for me to learn more.
Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Setting up the "blog" part of my WP static pages siteThanks. I don’t get this part however:
So, like it says, you’ll have to modify either home.php or index.php in your active theme.
If I want my /blog page to have a few more elements – eg. a Top Slider – what exactly do I do?

In reply to: Will image URLs still work when site goes live?Ok thankyou.

In reply to: Will image URLs still work when site goes live?Well yes, my site’s homepage will be http://www.xyz.com.au without the “wp” subdirctory in the URL. I’ve copied the index.php and .htaccess files to the root pubic html directory to make sure that happens, as per the instructions at http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory (under the subheading “Using a pre-existing subdirectory install”).
The rest of WordPress remains installed in my “wp” subfolder.
Does that make sense? Sorry if Im being unclear!
So once the site goes live, will the “wp” directory still be part of the image files URLs, as they are now? In other words, will the image URLs still be correct?

In reply to: Will image URLs still work when site goes live? Not sure I get you…
Does it mean that all image URL’s created during the build phase are wrong and will have to be manually ammended one-by-one when the site goes live?

In reply to: confusing "WP" parent folder in URLsWell I deletd the old .htaccess file and finished the procedure.
All working well. Thanks.
I have another question now about the the image file URLs will work once the site goes live, but I’ll post that question seperately.

In reply to: confusing "WP" parent folder in URLsThanks Kyle.
I started the procedure but noticed there are actually TWO .htaccess files: one is already in the root directory (it’s dated Oct 5th) and one is in the WP folder (dated today). What do I do?
