In reply to: Change text in a search fieldHi
Yesterday I pasted the code snippet kindly provided (using Insert PHP Code Snippets from xyzscripts.com (because this was already in use on the website)) via the Add New PHP Code Snippet button, and hit Create. It was created successfully. All code snippets show as Active.
Unfortunately, on re-loading the website and going to the page which contains the downloadable content, the search field text hasn’t changed. I double-checked with the company that created my website and they confirm the following: It was done with Beaver Builder Child Theme and the ‘Search and Filter Pro’ plugin for search.
Is there something else I need to do maybe somewhere else, (and, is my (hopeful!) expectation that changes will be reflected almost immediately, correct, or wrong?)?
Many thanks!

In reply to: Selecting letters, words and paragraphsI wish I saw what you see George!! Unfortunately, if I highlighted the same block of text, I would not see any blue highlighting – I see nothing at all (so the ‘highlighting’ for ‘this is the text you’ve selected’ must be white (is all I can think).
So where are the settings for this, that’s what I need to know. There must surely be a setting somewhere?

In reply to: Change text in a search fieldI’m so sorry but I’m rather lost, bouncing between multiple internet searches trying to find how to actually do this – I have no idea what the functions.php file is, I am sorry.
I think I’ve determined that editing anything theme-related directly in the dashboard isn’t good, but I honestly can’t figure out how to navigate to where I need to get to to edit the text that displays in the search field.

In reply to: Draft blog versus Preview – appearanceThanks bcworkz.

In reply to: Draft blog versus Preview – appearanceThanks for your reply.
I did go ahead and publish the blogs to see if there was any difference when actually published as opposed to just looking at a preview – it was just as bad on the published.
I have a horrible feeling my website devs will view this as a ‘request for new work’ which I’m not in the market for at the moment, time-wise or cost-wise. I might just have to live with it for now.
I did do some cache-clearing in a few places but it didn’t make any difference.
Thank you for your explanation and the upshot is that it helps to decide to leave some of this stuff for a bit further into the future, and I’ll just have to work with it for now. I noticed it’s even things like what the Quote block looks like in the editor (for instance), then in Preview it looks different (both in the Preview view, and in the published Blog) – so I’m picking and editing based on a design which I think will work – and then it looks different after. At least I’m understanding this a bit more so that’s half the battle.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] “Add shipping costs”That did the trick! Thanks so much. I think I got 75% of the way there but running through it again with your advice has gotten rid of that pesky message – thanks so much for your help.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] “Add shipping costs”Hi and thank you for getting back – and taking the time to replicate the problem, that’s so kind to take the time to do that.
This is what I see (I don’t think I’m using the wizard, although I may have done – I certainly followed some sequential steps at one point) but still at the end of it this was what I saw:
Here:

I see the message telling me to sort my shipping costs out:

And these are my settings in Settings:

Sincere apologies if it wasn’t clear before. I just also double-checked, and there is no Shipping tab showing so it seems to know there’s no shipping needed, but it’s not translating to the ‘Set up shipping for your store’ messaging that I’m getting.
