I think I figured it out, download a fresh copy of wordpress
extract it anywhere, locate the vars.php file, which is located in the file path public_html/wp-includes/vars.php.
Then connect via FTP to your website files, and navigate to that same folder and replace it. It worked for me!
The same exact thing happened on my website. Hope someone can help on this issue.
