Looks like it would work. This will potentially extend the plugin to be applicable in elementary/primary and secondary/high schools. Do I add it to function.php or upload it as a php file?

Very helpful! This helps in many other areas. Thank you. What if one wants to add more levels, i.e. Grade 1 to 10?
