In reply to: Editing a ThemeThere is no update file button. I suppose the file is not writable.
From Codex, Editing Files, I quote:“If the file is “writable” (allowed to be changed), you will see a button at the bottom of the editing window that says Update File. Click this when you are done with your edits and ready to save the file.
If the file is not “writable”, you will see a note under the bottom of the editing window saying the file is not writable. You will need to CHMOD the file to 666 in order to make it writable through an FTP program (preferably FileZilla) before you can edit it.” (my emphasis). The phrase “CHMOD the file to 666” is Greek to me. Are you able to translate?

In reply to: Editing a ThemeYes, I can change the code in Editor, but I haven’t figured out how to save the changes. If the changes are not saved they don’t take effect.

In reply to: Installing new ThemeThanks,
I solved the problem. Instead of the domainname of the host I wrote the IP address. It worked.
My fault I suppose. You learn something every day.Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Where to install WP?I have now installed a blog. Actually it installed itself in the file manager of the cPanel, but not on my own computer. What to do now to manage it? Can I download it to my WYSIWYG? Or can I get access to the source code any other way?
And how do I get rid of the “Meta” widget – I don’t think the readers should have access to the links under Meta. (log-in for example).
During the installation process WP created a data base by it self. Do I need to do anything in regard to the database, or is it just functioning by itself?
The blog is here: http://holidayislandlapalma.co.uk/blog/I haven’t found what I need in the “Getting_Started”, but it is a huge text, so I might have missed it.
