Thank you for your advice which I have followed by the process of elimination that you described. I have found that the plugin  “All in One SEO”, that I use, seems to be in conflict with NEXTGEN GALLERY. When they are both active NEXTGEN does not scroll but when I deactivate “All in One SEO”, NEXTGEN works fine.  I am not sure which is at fault because they both issue updates fairly frequently but I have found another gallery plugin called Modula Gallery that works fine even when All in One SEO is activated. Modula Gallery appears to be less complex than NEXTGEN but has the advantage of quickly and efficiently importing NEXTGEN galleries with very little for the user to do to set up their basic galleries that DO scroll. I think I will migrate all my galleries to Modula Gallery if NEXTGEN cannot provide a solution quickly.

Right. I am totally new to all this and ‘developed’ or built my own website two years ago using WordPress which I downloaded and worked from there. As it has disappeared on my laptop I thought it logical to get it back but wanted to be cautious about it. As it is not working would it be more reasonable to talk to my host who after all at the moment is hosting a site I cannot update.

Sorry about that. That’s the problem with worried beginners desperate for advice.

Thanks, but too expensive for my small needs.
