In reply to: [PPWP - Password Protect Pages] Cookie check failedThe issue is resolved with @hassenkam via email.
Just an update, the error message is returned by WordPress itself when your nonce tokens are cached and expired when the form is submitted.
{code: "rest_cookie_invalid_nonce", message: "Cookie check failed", data: {status: 403}} code: "rest_cookie_invalid_nonce" data: {status: 403} status: 403 message: "Cookie check failed"To be more specific, we’re using wp_create_nonce to create a token as per WordPress recommendation.
Nonces should be unique as they are user-specific and time-sensitive values.
If a nonce value is cached and expires later on, certain validation-required actions, e.g. form submission, will fail. Here are our suggestions to overcome the issue:
- Exclude all protected pages from caching
- Clear cache and set the “Cache Timeout” to less than 12 hours.
Hope it helps those with the same issue.

In reply to: [PPWP - Password Protect Pages] Very slow load timesJust an update, @kdecker22 is using our PPWP Free plugin to generate 1800 passwords.
As per our PPWP Lite’s logic, all passwords are saved in the same column
in the database. So the higher position passwords are located, the faster the password checking process is.If you have many passwords, we’d recommend you to get our PPWP Pro version.
Due to a database structure and management from the beginning, our Pro version will perform much better than the Lite version.
To be more specific, in our Pro version, the passwords are stored and managed separately both in the UI and database, resulting in a better performance overall.
You can refer to our Lite vs Pro comparision here for more information:
Hope it helps those with the same issue.
