In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] Search seems to ignore Custom Data fieldsSorry for the delay, was out in town …
Yes, Item 21 “Exclude numbers” is indeed unticked.
I’ve only given examples with numbers for the “year” custom data, but the “tag” is equally affected; e.g. searching for “Bach” in the search box brings up no answer whereas clicking on “Bach” in the tagcloud above the search box finds 3 occurrences among pictures.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] Search seems to ignore Custom Data fieldsYes, I am. I’ve used Custom Data for years.
e.g. https://charleskohl.com/drawings-and-paintings-by-charles-kohl/wppaspec/oc2/lnen/sd1/abdde2a094a2468834/ptf740bd4b1a7e9066 has year “1953” as custom element (and is displayed), yet looking for “1953” in search [https://charleskohl.com/find/] does not come up with an answer.- This reply was modified 2 months, 2 weeks ago by Serge.

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] Search seems to ignore Custom Data fieldsI have deleted WPPA on my site, downloaded a new copy, installed and activated it.
I then remade Albums and Photos index (maintenance -> I -> 9 & 10) , but alas, not fixed at my site, searching for dates still fails 🙁Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] NON-encrypted links to pics/albums in WPPAAh! Excellent! Your last suggestion to turn off Advanced settings -> Maintenance -> I -> Items 19 and 21 did the trick! And of course, if those codes are regenerated hourly, it can’t work to pass links on to folks.
Thanks again, Jacob, another trouble spot cracked! Ace!Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] NON-encrypted links to pics/albums in WPPAThanks, Opajaap, I can see why the link in your example would work for others.
I don’t know what I done wrong with my site though; I don’t get such links as you show with &wppa-album=xyz and &data-alb=154, mine are of this form:
https://charleskohl.com/photos-charles/wppaspec/oc2/lnen/sd1/ab9762f98851f996e0/pt0621a972db4739ec and while they work for a few minutes on another browser, they cease to function quickly.
Could it be that this is because I made an “All” album, and all other albums are sub-albums thereof?Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] Attempt to read property “ID” on nullAH! Yes. Thanks very much(!) that does indeed fix that PHP error when I set the “landing page” in the Settings as you describe.
Even as your “preferrably” option above solved the PHP errors as such, it was still initially a stumbling block, as only having the one single response landing page (in Settings) gave me a 4-search-boxes-in-4-languages puzzle to solve in return.
I opted for the “find the id of the page” solution by using PHPadmin to sleuthe out the [decimal] page_id’s for each language’s specific search page/post, and thus overruled the “search landing page” by putting
landing=“xxxx”into the wppa shortcode.
Setting Basic settings -> Search -> I -> Item 11: Tagcloud Link to “—the same page—“ (as opposed to auto-created) was also useful.
Now my only trouble is that the search results all come out in one big chunk (when there are enough results) rather than being paginated, like an album usually is, but -strictly speaking- that’s really another topic and I shouldn’t digress.
The crux of the matter? SOLVED 🙂
Many thanks as always!Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] Attempt to read property “ID” on nullI’ve tried hard over the last few days. At first I thought the Polylang app was a hindrance, but even after adding a new [single language] search page and setting the search landing page to that, I still get the errors in link-template.php on line 394.
Could it be that one or more of my albums is throwing up a NULL id?Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] Remake index table for photos is “stuck”YES, that DID it! 🙂 Thanks very much for that very useful tip – let alone the existence of “tweak” (!)
After some fighting with phpmyadmin I isolated the
idin question and checked various fields for said id and the following one. Alas, I’m not sure which one it finally was, but there were some unescaped double and single quotation marks in both of them (description and linkurl), so after chucking those out / making sure they were escaped and in pairs, I could restart the cron job with prior “locked” status. Thereafter the maintenance job of remaking Photos and Albums indexes successfully ran to its end, and my php_errorlog no longer grows, hooray 🙂Many thanks again!

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] “Image Factory mcr” Album covers lost pictureOh sure thing! Do feel free to send me a dev version, it will be a pleasure to try it out.
The strange thing is that albums which have sub-albums, ARE shown on the site cf https://charleskohl.com/sculptures-by-charles-kohl/

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] WPPA No Longer Available for Download?Same here! I shudder to think what we would do without WPPA+
I think we should all chip in some donation so as to fire up Opa Jaap in his efforts to overcome this.

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] Wordfence incompatibilityI use Wppa+ and Wordfence on several sites and can confirm that they have alway peacefully coexisted without any of the troubles that k2learner spells out. I do not use Elementor though.
Perhaps some success can be gleaned from https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/wordfence-does-not-let-me-edit-with-elementor/ ?Forum: Plugins

In reply to: [WP Photo Album Plus] slideshow requires refreshesWell spotted, Sire!
While the “Yoast SEO” plugin is but a text optimizer for SEO purposes, I have found that the “SG Optimizer” was the culprit in this case. Said optimizer is a very potent device, it massively speeds up the site response. However – in my attempt to squeeze out the last drops of tempo – I had also enabled its “Combine Javascript files” option [and ignored Siteground’s warning to check, ahem]. Turning that off has resolved the issue, everything loads perfectly again, and is still very fast.
Many thanks for your hint, Jacob!
