Thanks for the answer, I tried reading the codex but I still have no idea what to do, Th eold theme has all the page files, how can I transfer them?
Nevermind! I figured it out, had to reset menu under customization.
I created the child theme, and was able to place a gallery in my footer instead of pages menu. Thanks!
