    Hello!

Sometimes the upgrade takes a few minutes to propagate through our system and show up in the plugin settings page.

One thing you can do to speed that up is navigate to the plugin settings page and click the “Check” button. What that will do is force the plugin to check in with our servers and update the plugin status.

If the issue is still happening, please open a support ticket via our dashboard. We would be more than happy to help.

    Thanks!

    So sorry to hear that!

I’d be willing to assist to determine what exactly went wrong here, it would help us improve the service if you are willing to spend some time. Feel free to email [email protected] if you like.

Thanks and again sorry for your bad experience.

    Hello,

So far I conducted some tests by implementing a multisite with our plugin and have not been able to reproduce the issue.

The next step is to continue with the multisite tests insofar as replicating the installed plugins with the hope that perhaps that combination of edge case conditions will reproduce the problem. The key obviously is to replicate the issue in order to identify what , if anything, should be fixed.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Hello!

This is definitely a unique problem, or at least a less common one. What you could do is add a second site in our dashboard for img.subdomain.com.

Then once that is done, change your configuration where you previously set images to go through img.subdomain.com to go through the new CDN url.

    This means:

request for image > CDN URL > fetches from img.subdomain.com in the background.

I dont see why the above scenario shouldnt work. Let me know how it goes!

    Hello,

The CDN is not really designed for large video formats, especially for the free account. How big are these videos on average?

The way the CDN works is it will fetch the video file once and then store it in ram for subsequent fetches. It also depends on how fast your web host network speed is as it is dependent on that. Additionally your own network connection and your geographic location to the CDN endpoint plays a factor.

Let me know how big these files are , if they are really large, it might be more efficient to use a commercial or enterprise CDN like AWS cloudfront for that sort of thing.

    Hello,

In the shift8cdn dashboard website where you registered for an account. In the “sites” area you can just delete the domain there. After deletion it would take a few minutes to propagate the change across the network.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Never tried this but I suppose if you have a subdomain set up to point a CNAME record to your CDN url.

Then you would have to use another 3rd party caching plugin like W3 Total Cache or WP Rocket to put the custom CDN urls. Again haven’t tested this and on our CDN side it might not work because our endpoints are rendering based on specific hostnames for example.

Your welcome to try and report back!

    Hello,

Our rewrite plugin doesn’t work the greatest with lazy loading of images and we are currently working to improve it.

Right now with your english site, I notice that the images that work aren’t even going through the CDN anyways, probably due to how the slider system is loading images.

If you flip the deactivate switch in the CDN plugin settings page, does the portuges images show up? Can we rule that out? Because I dont even see the slider attempting to load any images there.

To temporarily work around this issue until we have better support for lazy loading of images in slider systems like this, I would recommend perhaps looking into W3 Total cache plugin and setting up our CDN via that plugin to see if it works :

    1. Go to shift8 cdn settings page and turn off the switch for “enable shift8 cdn”
    2. Install W3 Total Cache plugin
    3. Browse to Performance tab (side menu) and click on “General Settings”.
    4. Scroll down to the CDN section.
    5. Check Enable and select Generic Mirror from “CDN Type” drop down.
    6. Click on “Save all settings”.
    7. In the side menu under Performance or in the horizontal menu at top of the page click on CDN.
    8. Scroll down to the Configuration section and enter your pull zone URL (in this case yours would be https://xz0arjxuq0lz.cdn.shift8web.com)
    9. Click “Save all settings”.

If you follow the above steps, the slider images will show up. But again first and foremost make sure that the alternate language images are even showing up in the first place even without the CDN enabled/activated. Thats what you need to confirm first.

    Hello,

Not 100% familiar with fastest cache however the rules that plugin may use to rewrite assets would hopefully work with our service.

The CDN url should be (I would guess) : https://2kaltf6oqt8o.cdn.shift8web.com

Your origin URL should be whatever your site url is (try without the trailing slash).

If that doesnt work , just enable our plugin and it should work for you. The test URL for our CDN with your site works for me :

    https://2kaltf6oqt8o.cdn.shift8web.com/wp-content/plugins/shift8-cdn/test/test.png

    Thanks!

    Hello!

So just to clarify, you are using our service but facilitating the static asset rewriting via the fastest cache plugin, correct?

    1. I have your plugin installed. Do I even need to worry about adding it to fastest cache?

I’d say if you are using a caching plugin that offers the ability to rewrite static assets to go through a CDN, then its ideal to use only one plugin instead of 2. Less plugins is always better.

    2. What settings do I need to add to here?

Would you mind sharing the URL of your site? Or if you dont feel comfortable sharing the URL, can you provide the CDN prefix you are using? I can confirm you are using the correct url. There are two urls potentially for the CDN, one for paid users and one for free accounts.

    Thanks

    Hello!

Thank you for the kind words first of all.

So I looked into both sites you gave and the “imagesofia.com” website doesnt appear to have our plugin installed at all so I cannot troubleshoot the issue. It looks like you deleted that site from our network.

I looked at the second site, hostingqna.com, and it does appear that the plugin is installed and activated on our network.

The test URL also works : https://ufkdtbqhbyhu.wpcdn.shift8cdn.com/wp-content/plugins/shift8-cdn/test/test.png

The above url shows that the CDN is working. For the issues with your other site, perhaps if you can set it up and activate it again on our network and let me know here , I can look further. It is especially helpful if you can provide a url of an image that should be going through the CDN but is either not or not being served correctly.

Hopefully I’ll be able to help you with this!

    Thank you

    Hello,

    Hello,

YES, this is a Sub-Directories Multisite with https://sylver-tech.com/ as main site, https://sylver-tech.com/fr/ (French version site) and lately https://sylver-tech.com/test-01/ for the purpose of troubleshooting this problem.

Actually we are aware of some issues potentially with multisite. I want to do some internal tests on our end with multisite and maybe I can try to replicate your problem. This is long overdue as there are a few other posts with other issues with multisite (not related to yours, mind you).

So, unless you can solve this email problem or give me another email address to reach you, I’m stuck!

Ah thats too bad! All our internal business domain mail goes through google mail unfortunately. Let me spend some time troubleshooting multisite and if I can replicate your issue this way, then we can quickly roll out a plugin update to address (if it is indeed the source of the problem obviously).

I appreciate that you’ve been very patient throughout this and rest assured I’ll try my best to get to the bottom of this. If it indeed is something that we need to patch, your help in this issue will be invaluable to the other (thousands) of users for this plugin.

Thanks and I’ll update here after running through some tests.

    @fierevere

    Yup – got it.

This issue is tricky and I feel with the level of information available in the format of this forum is not enough to get to the bottom of the problem. The user can email us directly at [email protected] and we can try to troubleshoot further.

    Thanks
