Yes, it is supposed to switch the languages.. but now remains in ENG.
I tried to deactivate all other plugins to check if there was some interference, but there isn’t. Thanks for the follow up!

but with the Zerif theme(s) it seems not possible to have the Customizer-Content managed by the WPML Plugin, this is a bit weird if you are going to make the homepage and you want it in different languages..
Such a customization should go for a Page Template.. :/
