And also, a weird thing happens which I neglected to mention.

Once I login to the site, log out, and go back to my site, it is operational again and the maintenance mode message has disappeared. On each occasion I have cleared the cache. I even tried deactivating WP Rocket which made no difference. I also Max CDN and I purged the cache from that end as well.

But then several hours later I will visit the site and the maintenance mode message is back.

I also emptied cache in browser and used several browsers with same result.
