In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] Order and details not displayed in adminhardy, Don’t despair, (I try not to anyway), but if I had any advice, I’d offer it. But, I don’t know coding or developers and I don’t want to. I want to write, plain and simple! I like to learn, but life is too short to dick around trying to learn something I’m not remotely interested in learning

In reply to: [Twenty Seventeen] Add video support to all pagesThere is a video widget available with theme 2017 in the WP update 4.8 and beyond. It may be available with earlier versions of WP, but a video widget THere’s an audio widget, too.
I don’t know who started it, nor do i care. I was responding to a message in my inbox by someone who’s screen name is salsaturation. I guess I was given wrong link. No harm, no foul.
I’m replying to the thread I was asked to; given a link to this page in MY inbox:

No, I didn’t. The first page of my blog ‘HOME’ was to have the video header, so I installed it. Since it didn’t play sound, I removed EVERYTHING that could possibly tie a video to that page. Video still plays and none of my site works. Posts NEVER go where I direct them (to the various categories I’ve made), even though the customize menu is the same as appearance>menu and pages/categories match. Another theme?

In reply to: WidgetsOK. my cPanel folder is renamed to pluginsHOLD
The plugins in my DASHBOARD are all deactivated, but in cPanel, they are listed (there might be code which says otherwise, but the’re there.) Should I delete them from cPanel? (at least something inconsequential? Like the plugin Jquery slider? (don’t use)Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WidgetsCurrently there’s folder wp-content. Double click on it>pluginsHOLD>all of the plugins. Is that right?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WidgetsTara, Per your suggestion, I renamed the plugin file which now reads: wp-content>plugin>pluginHOLD/
The site now customizes, but widgets that ‘come with’ the theme don’t activate and plugin installation fails. Thoughts?
Is it now time to retry the TwentyFifteen Theme? and see if the plug-ins install there?

In reply to: WidgetsTara,
there’s a
plugin-install.js (FILE
plugin-install.min.js (FILE
plugin-install.php (FOLDER
plugin.php (FOLDERThere are probably other references to plug-ins, but these were the one in wp-content folder. Should I rename the plugin-install.php (which is a folder) or the plugin-install.min.js (which is a file) ?
Why am I deactivating them in cPanel when I can do that in my Dashboard? I’m confused.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: My appearance customize menu disappearsI can trace the same problem back to updating to WP 4.1.1 Even if I deactivate and then DELETE the pluggins (all of them) and switch to the default 2015, I STILL can’t make the widgets work and I still can’t use the customizer.

In reply to: WidgetsTara, how in the world do you ‘reset a plug in folder?’ Is that something that is in the cPanel of my host? And not only did I deactivate the plug-ins that time, another time I deactivated then deleted them all. Let me check the article and see what they say and also check my cPanel for options at Hostgator. Do I chance messing anything up?
What is a management application-as you can tell, lupus guru I am, but computer guru-I’m not at all.

In reply to: WidgetsSorry I haven’t been back. I have tried and tried and except for one brief SHINING MOMENT, I have not been able to customize my site. So, I’ve been spending more time fussing with it, than writing.
My site is http://lupusguru.com and after I login (assuming I CAN login) I go to appearances>customize. The minute I click on customize, there right side says I’ve been “Signed out due to inactivity” or something like that.
I’ve cleared my cache, I’ve updated browsers, I’ve done EVERYTHING I can think of that might effect a change and I’ve deactivated all plugins and switched to theme 2015. No change. That doesn’t tell me anything, but does it tell others something? I’m going out of my mind? There’s probably a simple glitch somewhere (is there a master switch that activates widgets?) ANY suggestions?

In reply to: WP admin not working and posts still privateFor a while, ‘wp-admin’ wasn’t working when I tried to log-in, so I found in Dr. Google, that .php might work. It did. Try inserting: .php and let us know

In reply to: WidgetsI deactivated all the plugins, then went to VISIT SITE. Everything looked the same. That didn’t change things-visibly.
So, I switched to 2015 and installed and activated that. When I tried to customize that theme and add widgets, I had the same problem: I’d install widgets and then they would NOT be visible. I do need to mention that when I’m on the customizer, normally the screen is split in two, so you can see what you’re ‘customizing’
For about 2 months now, when I click on customize or go to the customizer, when the screen splits, the left hand side is where you customize, BUT the right hand side is a screen that says “You have been signed-out.” Again, my site is http://lupusguru.com. I’ll leave it on theme 2015, for a while, so you can see the widgets that show (2) versus the number I’ve installed and SHOULD show (4) but aren’t
