In reply to: Admin toolbar update status different to update dashboardI checked the plugins folders – and my WordPress installation does not have the /wp-content/mu-plugins/ folder.
So I guess what you described is not really the issue I am facing? I only see /wp-content/plugins/ folder.

In reply to: Admin toolbar update status different to update dashboardThanks for this. I will check out that plugin.
However, I also found out from my host that they have a wordpress toolkit in cpanel which identified that there were 4 plugins that were not updated. Not sure how the toolkit works, but I could update the 4 plugins from the toolkot. When I did so, the problem seems to have gone away (about 12 hours now).
Thank you very much for your help.

In reply to: Admin toolbar update status different to update dashboardThanks again. disabling plugins and checking one by one is going to be very tedious. The reason being – it would take a few hours before I can refresh the page for the admin toolbar to show the false update notifications. If I refresh immediately, the false update notifications won’t show. Only appears after a few hours. Hope that there is a tool / plugin I can use to trouble shoot?

In reply to: Admin toolbar update status different to update dashboardThanks for the reply bcworkz.
I’ve cleared my browser cache, and also even changed browsers – the problem still occurs – ie, the admin toolbar shows update notification, but there is nothing to update in
update-core.php.So I don’t think it is client side cache. So it must be server side caching? How to check this?

In reply to: Admin toolbar update status different to update dashboardThanks bcworkz.
I will try each one by one. I’ve cleared my browser cache now. Will have to wait a while to see if the problem recurs. Will also switch browser to test as well.
But how do I clear the server side cache? Don’t see any options on the wordpress dashboard. I am hosted on a service that uses cpanel.
Thanks for the help.

In reply to: Cannot install “WordPress.com Theme Updates plugin”Thank you, Jan for the guidance on this. However, that is not the only theme that I downloaded and installed from WordPress.com – it would seem that there are some themes that are not available on ww.wp.xz.cn such as bosco.
