Hi Bjarne,
Well spotted! We fixed these issues and deployed an update. Thank you!Hi Ingo,
Thanks for getting in touch.
An optional feature to generate static fallbacks for animated images certainly seems a good idea for accessibility. We will keep this in mind for future updates.
You didn’t miss any hidden feature. I think that the workaround you describe is a good solution for now.
Support for simultaneously compressing and converting animated images to different formats is coming in the future. Currently though we only support compressing animated PNGs without changing the filetype.
We hope this helps!
Hi Bjarne,
Thanks for the heads up, we will address this issue somewhere in the future, as it’s not a critical issue right now.

In reply to: [TinyPNG - JPEG, PNG & WebP image compression] Error while connectingHi there,
Apologies for the slow response, and sorry to hear that you’re having some issues.
This error message can appear for different reasons, for example, if outgoing connections are blocked if there is a network problem or similar issues. Is there a chance that some restrictions exist on the server where your WordPress installation is running?
If you keep having issues, feel free to reach out to [email protected] so we can take a closer look.
When I try to open that image I get a “this image cannot be hotlinked” error. Is that another plug-in you’re using? It might be that this conflicts with the bulk optimization process, have you tried running it with that plug-in disabled?
Hi wildesgartenherz owner,
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for reporting the bug.
The error “Image could not be decoded” usually indicates that the image is corrupted. There are many reasons why PNG files may get corrupted, e.g. an error occurred during the writing or reading of the data.
How many images are your trying to optimise?
Can you spot a corrupted image file?Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [TinyPNG - JPEG, PNG & WebP image compression] Delete exif informationHi there,
Thanks for your message!
It is possible that you have enabled the option to preserve certain meta-data. Could you please go to the settings page of the plugin and scroll down to the section “Original image”. Please make sure to disable the following options:
– Preserve creation date and time in the original image
– Preserve copyright information in the original image
– Preserve GPS location in the original image (JPEG only)
And lastly, select “Save changes” at the bottom of the page. This should remove all meta-data when the image is being optimized. If you are still experiencing issues, could you please check if the images are being optimized correctly? You can view the compression details if you go to Media Libary and have it in list-view. On the right, there will be a column with Compression details.
Hope this helps. If not, could you please send us an email to [email protected] with the original image, optimized image, and a screenshot of the settings page?

In reply to: [TinyPNG - JPEG, PNG & WebP image compression] SSL cert issuesHi all,
The issue should be resolved right now. Could you please retry?
The cause is partly server and client side, a small portion of the users may have experienced TLS issues when connecting to our services because the DST Root expired a couple of days back. We updated our trust stores to only use a working root. However on some machines and PHP versions this is still causing issues. We have now made a tweak on our servers to work with older libraries as well.
