I am basically facing the same problem as described by @doctor-doubledrop. Everytime i try to login through the login form on the custom login page i get the “ERROR: Your answer was incorrect – please try again.”-message.
I managed to narrow it down to plugin incompatibilities (yes in the plural). Unfortunately, if i active one of these plugins:

i get the Error quoted above.
I run everything in the newest version.
