Thank you for pursuing this. I appreciate all your messages.
I understand your explanation, but am not happy about the way this feature was implemented. I wanted to use the gallery plugin for both my gallery photos and my slideshows, but can’t live with the double images. My users will complain about this.
I will use a different plugin for my slideshows.
I am turning off my test site now. Let me know if you need to look at it again.
Valerie
When you hit refresh on the page the second image in the gallery, id 36, flashes below the first image, id 35.
I did. Must have happened when I was trying to debug the problem. I deleted gallery 12 (which had 3 photos), and cleared the cache. Now the code is:
<!– wp:imagely/nextgen-gallery –>
[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”11″ display=”basic_slideshow”]
<!– /wp:imagely/nextgen-gallery –>
There are 8 photos in gallery 11.The double image problem still happens. Same URL.
I cleared the cache and reset all the options again. I deactivated the caching plugin that I installed yesterday. The double image happens on every reload, from both Chrome and Firefox. Can you see this? Can you reproduce the problem?
This is the page:
<!– wp:html –>
<h3>2018 Design Competition First Place Winners</h3>
<!– /wp:html –><!– wp:imagely/nextgen-gallery –>
[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”11,12″ display=”basic_slideshow”]
<!– /wp:imagely/nextgen-gallery –><!– wp:paragraph –>
<p>Please note that the Chapter will not be holding a Design Competition in 2019.</p>
<!– /wp:paragraph –>Please re-read my initial posts. All of the plugins are disabled and I am using Twenty Seventeen.
I installed the plugin and enabled page cache and database cache. I still get double images every time.
Do you not see the double images? The page loads quickly. The issue is every time you hit reload you see a second image below the first.
I gave you the link in my initial message.

None of your suggestions are applicable to this problem.
1. There are only 8 images in this gallery. They are all 720×500 px at 100dpi. Smaller than your recommendation.
2. No. After the first page load in Chrome, the first page load in Firefox also gives me double images. As do subsequent reloads in both.
3. This is a test site. I deactivated almost all of the other plugins. I do not have Jetpack.
4. The database is tiny. I created the test site last week.
5. I don’t see why I need a caching plugin for such a small gallery.
I do not believe this is a performance problem.Yes this happens on every reload not just the first load.
Additional information for you. WordPress 5.0.3.
