Hi @jgrietveld,
Yes, we’re working on it! I think we should have it ready around the end of next week.
Thanks so much for the positive review @mikeshapiro!
Hi @rwfelty,
As far as I’m aware, there aren’t any issues with the Simple Page Ordering plugin that you’re referring to.
Hi @rwfelty,
One more thought: your question brings up a valid point that there is duplication of effort required if you want the folder structure to display your site’s page hierarchy.
That gives me an idea for a feature. We could create a “Page Hierarchy” dynamic folder that would display your site’s page hierarchy as folders (each parent page would be a folder that, when clicked, shows you the child pages). That would allow you to view your page hierarchy in the folder tree while also being able to create an independent folder structure if necessary/desired.
I’m on vacation at the moment but we’ll plan to add this feature in November when I’m back. Perhaps it will be useful to you?
Hi @rwfelty!
The short answer is that there is no relation between Wicked Folders and the page attributes box (i.e. they are completely independent). So, whether or not your users should tag pages in a Wicked Folder and set the appropriate spot in the site’s child/parent hierarchy in the page attributes really depends on what you want to accomplish.
Given that you already have a site hierarchy established, I think it makes sense to continue using the page attributes. Wicked Folders doesn’t alter page permalinks to reflect the folder structure so, assuming you want the page hierarchy reflected in your URLs (e.g. “parent-page/child-page”), you’d need to continue specifying the parent in the page attributes.
In many cases though it’s useful to use Wicked Folders and the page attributes because of the fact that they are independent (i.e. you can create a folder structure that doesn’t necessarily match your site’s page hierarchy). Additionally, folders give you the ability to assign pages to multiple folders (as opposed to being restricted to a single parent page) which can help with organization and make them easier to find. You can also reorganize the folders later on if needed without having to worry about URLs changing.
That said, if your goal is for your folder structure to exactly match your site’s page hierarchy then it would require some duplication of effort like you mentioned and may not be as useful to you.
I hope this helps answer your question! If you need additional clarification or have any other questions, please let me know!
Hi @inspired888,
I never heard back from you so I’m going to go ahead and flag this as resolved for now; however, if you are still having trouble, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Hi @inspired888,
I wanted to follow up on this and find out if you’re still having trouble. If so, please let us know and we’ll be happy to help.
Hi @inspired888,
Thanks for reporting this issue.
Are you sure that all pages are being displayed on the right and not just the pages in the “Paid Content” folder? The plugin is actually supposed to remember what folder you were in last and return you to that folder when you visit the page again. That’s why it’s defaulting to “Paid Content”; however, if it’s showing you all pages, then something is not working correctly.
If that’s the case, is it possible for you to temporarily disable all other plugins and see if the issue persists? If it’s working correctly, it should default to the folder you were last in (and only show the pages in that folder).
Hi @viajesqconectan,
That’s strange but glad to hear it’s working now. I’m going to mark this as resolved for now but if you still have trouble or end up identifying which plugin is causing the problem, please feel free to re-open the issue and we’ll be happy to help out and look into it more.
Hi @viajesqconectan,
Sorry you’re having trouble.
Would it be possible for you to post the data that is being posted to the server during the request? You should be able to see that data by clicking on the request link in the console.
Also, have you tried disabling all other plugins to see if the issue goes away? If it does, I’d suggest re-enabling each plugin one-at-a-time to determine which one is causing the conflict.
Thanks so much for the positive review @nealsidemangmailcom! Glad to hear that you’re finding the plugin useful!
Thanks so much for the positive review @awalford!
Hi @alejomejia,
One way to do this would be to use the
wicked_folders_get_foldersfilter. Within your callback function for the filter, you could check the user’s role and then remove any folders that you don’t want the user to have access to. Does that make sense?Hope this helps!
Hi @dineshsunny9,
I’m going to go ahead and mark this as resolved but, if you still have trouble after updating, please let us know.
No problem! If we can help with anything else, just let us know.
