Hi @rmeegs98dh,
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble! I’d be happy to work with you to try to get this resolved.
Would it be possible for you to temporarily disable all plugins except Wicked Folders on the instance that is having the issue and confirm if the issue persists?
Wow, thank you so much @geoworld99!
Great, glad that worked!
Hi @dineshsunny9,
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble. From looking at the error message you provided, it appears to be a permission issue or perhaps an issue with some missing files. Have you verified that the plugin actually exists at /app/public/wp-content/upgrade/f6c01a22/plugins/wicked-folders?
I think the easiest thing to try would be to deactivate and delete the plugin and then download and install a fresh copy to see if that fixes the problem. I would recommend making a backup first of course; however, your folders will still be there even if you delete and re-install the plugin.
Hi @rwfelty and @jgrietveld,
I’m going to mark this topic as resolved but if you have any other questions or issues, please feel free to let us know!
Great! I’m going to go ahead and mark this topic as resolved but feel free to start a new thread if you have other issues or questions.
Hi @geoworld99,
I apologize for the confusion. The sort column you’re referring to allows pages to be sorted within a folder independently of the page’s order attribute. In other words, the plugin does not change the page order attribute. This is by design to allow pages to be organized differently in the admin (if desired) than they are on the front-end.
The legacy folder page inherits the pagination setting from the main Pages screen so, if you’d like, you can increase the number of pages by going to the Pages screen, clicking on “Screen Options”, and changing the number of items per page.
One other thing to note: the legacy folder page is from an older version of the plugin before folders were integrated into the main Pages screen. We’ve left it as an option for people who may have been using it in the past and still want to use it; however, we’re no longer making enhancements to that screen.
Hope this clears things up. Let me know if I can answer any other questions!
No, there is no limit.
Hi @geoworld99,
We’ll look into adding some previous/next template functions like you suggest.
Sorry for the confusion; the sort feature on the legacy folders page is there to allow you to sort pages within a folder (it doesn’t alter the page’s order attribute). This was a previous feature request and it doesn’t alter the page’s order attribute because a page could be ordered differently depending on the folder.
If you’re looking for the ability to sort pages using drag and drop, perhaps this plugin will do the trick:
So, just to clarify, are you saying you’d like to have a template function called something like
get_next_item_link()andget_previous_item_link()that you could use in your theme that would return the link to the previous/next page in the folder?I agree that that would be nice but one challenge I see is that pages can be assigned to multiple folders. So, unless you passed the folder name to the functions as well, it would be ambiguous as to which folder the previous/next link should be generated for.
Hi @geoworld99,
Correct, ordering the pages via drag-and-drop is not something the plugin does.
I’m still not quite sure I understand what you mean about the previous and next links. Are you referring to the front-end? Would it be possible for you to make a video that shows an example that shows the manual previous and next links that you previously created?
And sorry for the confusion, we haven’t released the next update yet (2.10.1 was from earlier today before we fixed the problem that you mentioned). We’ll probably release the next update later today or early next week sometime.
Hi @geoworld99,
Thanks for the clarification. I’m afraid there isn’t currently a way to sort pages within folders unless you use the legacy folders page (you can enable that option in the settings) although we may add that feature in the future.
Can you clarify what you mean by needing to manually create next and previous links? I’m afraid I don’t understand what you mean.
Also, we’ve fixed the first issue and that will be included in the next update.
Hi @geoworld99!
Thanks for the video, that was really helpful in understanding the first problem. I’m able to reproduce that issue as well and we’ll fix that ASAP.
Can you clarify the second problem a bit more? Are you saying you’re not able to drag and drop the page after you use “Quick Edit” to change the order attribute? Or did you mean something else?
Hi @pchenriques,
I apologize for this issue. We forgot to add a file when we committed the most recent update to the WordPress plugin repository which is what caused this problem.
We’ve fixed the problem and once you update to 2.10.1 the folders should work again.
I’m going to mark this as resolved but please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have other questions or still have trouble after updating.
Thanks!
Hi @jgrietveld!
Just wanted to follow up and let you know that we’ve released an update (2.10.0) that includes this new feature.
We’ve added a new dynamic folder called “Page Hierarchy” which will let you browse your site’s page hierarchy as if each parent page were a folder. Clicking on a folder under “Page Hierarchy” will show you the pages “in” that folder (i.e. pages that are assigned to that parent).
Hope this feature is useful to you! Let me know if we can help with anything else.
