Just to update this thread. I am using the new BackWPup 5.0.4 and hoped the new product would be compatible with caching solutions. It’s still not. When I activate the plugin WP-Optimise 4.0.1 and run the backup job, that job still fails “Trying to make a list of folders to back up …” So I have to continue to de-activate WP-Optimise, because backups are more important to me than the caching.
Just to update this thread, I upgraded WP-Optimise from v3.6 to v3.8, activated the plugin and proceeded to test running a job with BackupWP. The BackupWP failed with the same issue: “ERROR: Maximum execution time of 300 seconds exceeded” while trying to make a list of folders to back up. So there is still a conflict between these 2 plugins.
As a workaround, I will continue to de-activate WP-Optimise, because backups are more important to me than the caching. It is definitely a conflict with WP Optimise. If I deactivate that plugin, backup proceeds normally. I tried rolling back WP Optimise to v3.5.0 but the problem persists.
For now, I have disabled WP Optimise and I will await a solution.Maria,
Oh wow, you were right! I removed ‘All cookies and site data’ and the problem went away. Let’s close this case and I’ll just keep an eye on it to see if this happens again.
Thank you for your guidance.
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I disabled Popup Maker in order to have a working file upload form. I will leave it enabled today, so you can test. But do take a look at this video which demonstrates the problem.
I just tried to save the Popup Maker error log and found that it has zero bytes. I also did not see errors in the browser’s Javascript console (btw, I’m using Chrome v90). I just now tried in Firefox and IE v11 and DID NOT see the same error, so it appears tied to Chrome.
I can certainly send you credentials by email (not here of course) so that you can login and see the problem yourselves.
The above link shows that if Elementor is disabled, the file upload works. The following link demostrates that if Popup Maker is disabled, the file upload works. This has narrowed down the conflict.

Update. With help from Ninja Forms team, we have narrowed the problem to a conflict between Ninja Forms File Upload and the plugin Popup Maker v1.16.1. So it’s not an Elementor issue at all, and we can do without the popups.
I just realised the page with the form was set to ‘private’, so no one other than an admin could access it. I have amended https://nextid.com/authenticity/ to make this page public. Please try again.
Update. There is a conflict between the Ninja Forms Upload Plugin and Elementor v3.2.2. I have temporarily disabled Elementor while seeking support from Ninja Forms team.
Also, the ‘unexpected token’ error shown in Javascript console was caused by errant CSS picked up by Simple Custom & JSS. This is now fixed.

In reply to: Ninja Forms – File Upload plugin failsI just noted that in the browser console there is an error: “Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token ‘{‘”.

In reply to: Filter is not being processedOh my, I see that my second plugin was creating its own log in a different location, ie- in the folder where the plugin resides. So, false alarm, both filters were in fact running all along.
Thank you for your suggestions.
