WPBackItUp does work well for most hosts, even the ones that severely limit resources but unfortunately, sometimes we do run into challenges that we can’t resolve. It sounds like this is the case with your site. I see that you submitted a support ticket and will follow up about your refund.

Have you opened up a support ticket on http://www.wpbackitup.com yet? My support team can likely help you get this resolved very quickly. They will even log in and fix it for you if needed.

In reply to: [WP BackItUp Community Edition] Update has failed to completeSure can @fireflywebs. Looks like there is an issue with the update. Please deactivate and delete the installed version of WPBackItUp Community and then try to install it again. I suspect that will correct the issue.

With our free version ( community edition) you can do backups and for the paid version ( Pro)you can do backup (download single zip file) and restore plus schedule backups, migration.
