actually, I got brave and looked at it again. The begin word press and the end word press had nothing in between. There was a lot of addoutput filter and add type and expries after the endwordpress. So I did copy the codex in between. Now I can get in. So was it the htaccess that got messed up because of my ssl?
Thank you for your response. I think I may have found the answer though I am not sure why it worked.
In the appearance menu there is a field for the url. Searching the themes forums they had someone put a # sign in there. When I did that, it worked immediately. I would love to know what that # stands for. Can you tell me? I did not ask their forum.
