  • No, reCaptcha is on the wp-admin page before it even asks for your login. It is that “I am human” checkbox that you click before entering in your admin credentials. Did you not add that there?

Yes, I know what that is. I just meant that I understood that page to be something wp would control, not me.
So I have not added anything on there. Not knowingly anyway.

I would say lets deactivate all your plugins manually but that would mess up some stuff on your live site. So I do not want to do that. Let me research the plugins that I am not familiar with in the screenshot you provided. I’ll get back to you shortly. In the mean time would you please tell me which theme you are using?

    Thanks.
I could deactivate each one individually to find out where the error is. Assuming I can reactivate in the same way (ie, just delete the ‘disabled’ text) and there not be any impact after that, then I’m happy to do that – any impact will be only for a minute or two.
But I am done for the night now anyway so take your time.

I believe I am using the Lens theme. (but it is possible I’m using Persona. Sorry, I know it sounds strange to not know what theme I’m using but I bought them both around the same time and can’t remember which one I ended up using. And can’t login to check!)

    Thanks for your help.
As you can see – this has stumped me, more because I would have thought logging in to access my site would not be something I could have changed in any way. But it seems that I have, with something I’ve done (or some change to some plugin I am using on my site).

My gut is telling me that your issue has to do with that reCaptcha screen since you do not know how it was added to your site but I can not seem to figure out how it was added if not through a plugin and I’ve research all the plugins you have based on their directory names… none of them seem to add such a screen to the wp-admin login process.

I would advise against deactivating the plugins one by one in the fashion we did the caching ones this morning. It is not that simple to just reactivate them.

I went to your homepage and use developer tools in my browser to figure out that you are using the Persona Theme. This is a premium theme. At this point we will not be able to help you here in the forums.. you will need to contact the theme developer for support by going here.

If the developer sends you back here please post to this thread and I will do my best to continue helping you as my time permits but please contact them and see what they can do to help you.

Watching for your reply once you’ve contacted the developer of your theme.

Thanks for all your help on this.

I have tried again today and I am now able to login with no problem.
Could it be that it took a little while for the ‘disabling’ of those two plugins to apply? (I didn’t try to login at all during yesterday)

Anyway, it is working currently. Would you be able to now help with configuring these (or caching) correctly as you had mentioned before:

If this works please leave them disabled and let me know I’ll provide further instruction how to correctly configure caching.

    Thanks
    andy

Yes, its possible considering you have cloudflare it could have take time for the interwebs to notice that you had deactivated it and redirect correctly back to your web server.

That said, I am glad you were able to login today. However, to be honest, I think your site has a few problems because I just tried to load the admin again and the reCaptcha screen still shows up. Also, if you recall the reset password was just sending you in circles. Does that still happen with the reset password option?

If so, I think you need to contact your theme developer and see if that screen is coming from the theme. If it is not from the theme you need to figure out where that is coming from before we reactivate your caching. Also, you should figure out why the lost-password sends you in circles but that is probably not going to be affected by caching where the login screen most definitely will be. So that can wait until after we get the caching reconfigured.

If you would prefer to proceed by reactivating and reconfiguring caching without fixing/removing the captcha screen to see if it was caused by the caching being misconfigured let me know and I will get you instructions. However, it is 2:30am here and I was just getting ready to go to bed when I saw your message so I will have to get back to you later today after I get some rest with directions on that.

    Thanks for your patience.

    OK, many thanks.
I’ll contact the developers and we can go from there.
I’ll let you know over coming days how I get on.
    thanks again for your help

My pleasure! Watching for your reply after you contact the theme developer.

    Hi,

Finally I have managed to get info from the theme support who have said that their theme would not have caused this issue. There is nothing in the theme that would have added a recaptcha screen etc.
So I guess best next step would be to reactivate the caching etc and see if that had caused these problems?
    thanks

    Hi,

Could you let me know on this – how to properly reactivate the caching etc as you had mentioned in a previous mention you could help with

    Thanks
