Checked/cleaned Firefox, no change. Checked/cleaned Google Chrome … WordPress now saves a new blog post and edits former blog posts and saves them! I have now made Google Chrome my shortcut to the admin login. I updated to 5.4.2, everything still seems to work. So it may have been a Firefox issue. Think I’ll leave it for now and tackle 5.5 later today or tomorrow. Thanks James … again.

The blog website now appears normal to other people. But I still cannot save a brand new blog post or save edits to current blog posts. I have tried everything you suggested and nothing works.

Tried Health Check, no help there. Disabled plugins, cleared cache, no help there. Enabled plugins again. Have reverted to 5.4.1 which is working so far. Your fixes aren’t fixing the 5.5 problems, I’m sorry to say.

Why would I have to change themes and re-write my entire blog? You say it won’t affect visitors, but changing the theme will. Why wouldn’t an update take into affect the themes? Ok, I will install Health Check if possible … and disable plugins (that I’ve had for years). How irritating. You helped me with a problem a couple of years ago, will heed your advice again.

travelswithtowhee.com … this new wordpress.com login window appeared right after a wordpress.com fellow deleted all of the extraneous email addresses from the list of people who had tried to subscribe but weren’t subscribed. The subscription problems do seem to have been fixed now. I do have a wordpress.com account. But I’ve never had to log in while I was logged into my blog’s admin site before … those subscriber and stat pages simply opened by default when I clicked on the link without logging in. I sure can take the extra step of logging in now, but it sure was nice for 2.5 years not to have to do that. If you can change it back, that would be terrific. If not, I can surely live with this. Thanks Fotis.

I have now created a new wordpress.com account and can log in with that account to view my followers, stats, etc. It seems odd that I’ve had this blog for more than two years and never had to do that. But with this new account, I now can see everything.
If there’s anything that should be done about this, let me know. Otherwise, I think things are ok for this specific topic now.
    Thank you!

Getting close! I deleted the 18 duplicates. Here’s what is now in the dashboard …
15 WordPress followers … all AOK.
69 email followers … all AOK.
BUT I have an additional 30 email addresses for people who either were followers via email but didn’t get transferred from the backup or who have tried to subscribe after March 27 and could not and still cannot subscribe for whatever reason. Can you add in those 30 email addresses for me? How should I send them to you?
    Thanks a million.

Oh man that looks better! But there are now a number of duplicates … and a few email addresses of people who subscribed with a new email address because the old one didn’t work … and still some folks who have tried to subscribe but couldn’t, etc. Can I send you the entire list of email addresses that should be subscribed … then you can delete what’s there and then upload what’s on my entire list so I can start fresh with a list that’s correct? It’s about the same number of email addresses, maybe a little more.
    You folks are terrific!

Super! How do I get that list of 67 email addresses to you? Do I list them here? Or should I send them to you privately?

    (@annhay22)

Thank you for that information. I will leave the captcha booster app disabled and will likely delete it.

PART of my original concern has now been addressed. NEW subscribers can now subscribe successfully. Three NEW subscribers have subscribed in the past day or two.

BUT, people who were subscribed before the snafu early in March still can no longer subscribe. They enter their email address, click on “subscribe”, a message pops up that it was successful, but then they do not receive an email that would confirm the subscription. So NEW subscribers are now A-OK, thank you! But about two-thirds of my original subscribers STILL cannot re-subscribe.

As mentioned, I have a list of the 67 email addresses that still cannot subscribe though many of them have tried, many times. Is there a way for me to have access so that I can add those email addresses back into the system? Or can you do that for me?

    Sure appreciate the help.

Finally got a guy at BlueHost who was willing to look at the system. He said that the captcha-booster app was causing problems with JetPack. He disabled the captcha-booster app. As soon as he did that, I could log in, and the entire site loads in a fraction the time, edits are saved in a fraction of the time, photos upload faster, everything is faster. He said he did nothing except disable the captcha-booster. He believes that JetPack is running properly and should not be disabled or deleted. He suggested deleting the captcha-booster program and either using my blog without that function or finding a different app.
Everything seems to be running very smoothly and fast since he did that.
I see online that Akizmet provides a captcha for comments, but I can’t find that in my setup.
    Your thoughts?

I cannot log in. When I email BlueHost about that, they say it is a JetPack issue. Please understand that I cannot log in. The error message I get is:

“Your IP Address 69.89.31.241 has been blocked by the Administrator for security purposes. Please contact the Website Administrator for more details.”

Can you fix this so I can log in?

Today I attempted to start the delete and reinstall JetPack process, but am getting this message instead, and I cannot log in to do anything about it. I cannot log in!

Note … when BlueHost deleted JetPack in early March, I very truly DID lose everything … all the stats, followers, etc, everything. So I’m concerned about the same possibility this time.
