Hi @snoffel ,
We really appreciate your thoughtful feedback. We understand that consistency with the WordPress backend is crucial for usability, and we hear your concerns about navigation, readability, and performance.
Right now, our main focus is on removing the two-job limitation and bringing back the ability to edit old jobs, along with improvements to custom scheduling and backup file formats. While we are prioritizing these functional improvements, we are also actively gathering feedback with the intention to refine the UI in future updates, including reviewing font usage and overall accessibility.
In the meantime, if you prefer, you can roll back to version 4.1.7 here.
Thanks for taking the time to share your insights—we truly appreciate it!

Hi @jontang,
We hear your frustration, and we’re truly sorry that the update has impacted how you use BackWPup. While our goal was to simplify backups, we recognize that many users relied on the flexibility of creating and customizing multiple backup jobs.
We’re actively working to restore the functionality that allows users to create and customize multiple backup jobs.
Additionally, we’ve already restored features such as custom scheduling and backup history, and reintroduced ZIP and TAR.GZ compression support through a helper plugin, with plans to fully integrate it into the UI in the next few days.In the meantime, if the current version doesn’t meet your needs, you can revert to version 4.1.7 here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/backwpup/advanced/.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these updates.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] v5: Terrible “update”Hello @petervandoorn,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We’re truly sorry that the update hasn’t met your expectations. We understand that the removal of certain features has been frustrating, and we’re actively working to improve the situation.
We’ve already restored features like custom scheduling, backup history, and ZIP compression based on user feedback.
We’re also exploring ways to reintroduce multiple job capabilities to the interface.
Regarding the one-click database download, while it’s not immediately available, you can still back up your database by navigating to the Settings page and using the dropdown in the backup history section. We acknowledge this isn’t the exact experience you were used to, but we are looking to make improvements here also.
If you prefer, you can roll back to version 4.1.7 while we continue our improvements. You can download it here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/backwpup/advanced/.
We appreciate your patience and support as we work to refine the experience.

In the meantime, as @ov3rfly kindly suggested, you can roll back to version 4.1.7 while we continue to make improvements. You can download this version here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/backwpup/advanced/.
We hope this helps restore the workflow you’re accustomed to while we continue refining the new version.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] It used to be a great pluginHi @jensknolle,
We’re sorry to hear that the 5.0 update hasn’t met your expectations. This is not the experience we want for our users, and we’re committed to making it right.
Currently, we’re focusing on addressing key feedback areas such as the two-job limit, scheduling options, and backup file formats. Although the one-click database backup button won’t be reintroduced immediately due to these priorities, we are planning to bring it back in a future update.
In the current UI, you can still perform a database backup by navigating to the “Settings” page and using the dropdown in the backup history section. While this isn’t the one-click solution you were accustomed to, it serves as a temporary workaround.
If you prefer, you can revert to the previous version while we work on these improvements. All releases are available at the bottom of this page: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/backwpup/advanced/.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we address these priorities.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] What a ShameHi @fla2paris ,
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. We understand your frustration, and we’re sincerely sorry for the disruption this has caused.
Our goal was and will always remain to provide a reliable and powerful backup solution. We acknowledge that changes in this new release have impacted usability, and we’re actively working to address concerns. A quick example of that would be the recent changes we’ve made after the release of v5, by reintroducing features such as custom scheduling (which we’re working on further fine tuning).
The focus of v5 was on simplicity, but acknowledge that there are some key features that we need to work on, and improve usability from the ground up, which we’re committed to achieving with releases in the very short term.
If you’d prefer to continue using the previous version while we improve the current one, you can roll back to version 4.1.7 here.
We are committed to making things right. We do hope to re-earn your trust as a customer, and thanks once more for sharing your candid feedback.
