This message appears when WordPress detects extra whitespace or unexpected output, usually from a theme or plugin update. It does not mean your backups are broken, especially if they are completing normally.
The warning is mainly informational and usually only affects backups downloaded via the browser, not cloud backups or restores.

That message means your site is outputting extra whitespace or unexpected characters, usually from a theme or plugin file (for example, blank lines outside , UTF-8 BOM, or debug output). This extra output can corrupt backup files when downloading, which may cause restore failures.
To fix it, try switching to a default theme, disabling plugins one by one, and make sure WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY are disabled. Once the extra output is removed, the warning will disappear.

Since you’re using UpdraftPlus Premium and the Settings/Advanced Tools screens are blank, this is not something we can safely troubleshoot further on the ww.wp.xz.cn forum.

Before submitting the ticket, please also make sure the site is running the latest version of UpdraftPlus, as this issue can occur with older versions.

To help us understand the issue better, could you please share a screenshot of the WordPress Dashboard → Settings → General and UpdraftPlus → Settings → Email reporting.

Also, have you already tried wiping the UpdraftPlus settings (Advanced Settings → Wipe settings)? If not, please let us know, as this can sometimes resolve issues.

If the clone loads without your plugins and theme, it usually means the restore did not finish completely.
Please log in to the clone’s WordPress dashboard and check if you see a “Continue restoration” button. If it’s there, click it and allow the restore to complete.
If there is no option to continue, please try creating a new clone. Before doing so, reduce the split archive size in UpdraftPlus > Settings (for example, to 50 MB), take a fresh backup, and then create the clone again. Smaller backup parts are less likely to fail during transfer.
If the problem happens again, please share the clone log so we can take a closer look.

If your connection test works but uploads have recently started failing, we’ll need to take a look at the backup log to confirm what the S3 provider is returning. There have been several recent reports from iDrive E2 users showing multipart upload failures, but the log will tell us for sure.
Could you please post a copy of your full backup log? You can find it under UpdraftPlus > Existing Backups > View Log.

UpdraftPlus cannot restore a single page or menu on its own, because restoring the database backup would bring back all pages and settings and overwrite any recent changes. The safest option is to create a temporary or staging site, restore your backup there, and then copy the content or menu settings you need back to your live site. This lets you recover the deleted menu without replacing your whole database.

UpdraftPlus can restore an entire database, but it will overwrite your current users, posts, and WooCommerce orders, so it isn’t suitable for restoring only a few tables on a live site. What you can do instead is restore the backup on a staging site, and then extract the specific data you need such as users, posts, or orders.
Once extracted, you can import just those tables or entries back into your live site using an import/export tool.

Apologies for the delay.
It sounds like your site may be stuck in a backup loop, which can happen when a scheduled task keeps restarting. Please go to UpdraftPlus Backups → Backup / Restore tab and check if a backup is still running; if it is, click Abort to stop it. You can also install the free WP Crontrol plugin and look under Tools → Cron Events to see if there are multiple UpdraftPlus cron jobs repeating; if so, you can delete the duplicates.
It’s also worth reviewing your backup schedule under the UpdraftPlus settings to make sure it wasn’t accidentally set to run too frequently. If you can share your UpdraftPlus log file, we can take a closer look and help you identify what is triggering the repeated backups.

UpdraftPlus (free or paid) does not enforce a fixed upper limit on site size. Very large sites can be backed up, but the real limitation is the server’s resources—memory, timeout limits, processor speed, and how long your host allows PHP processes to run. When those limits are too low, backups of very large sites may pause, restart many times, or fail to complete.
